lifetime update key not working with DVD5 on V7

I installed V7, using my lifetime update key, as I have with every previous version. The screen defaults to DVD to DVD, with DVD9 format.
When I try to change it to DVD5 Format, I instantly get a message stating that "DVD to DVD has expired"

I have verified that I have the correct reg key.
I have verified that the same reg key works with v6 without a problem.

5 times, I have sent trouble requests to DVDFAB and every time, they respond by sending me the same lifetime reg key that I have been using and tell me to paste it into the reg box. I did get one response that also recommended that I remove and replace V7 with V7.0.5.3 beta but the problem returned and there was no indication from the Beta History report that there were any changes that related to this issue.

Twice I have provided them with screen shots showing that I have pasted the reg key correctly and showing that I still get the same error when selecting DVD5.

I have also sent them screen shots showing that I do not get the error when using DVD9 format. Still their canned response is always to paste my key in the reg box.

I have asked them twice to try my reg key themselves and let me know if it works for them the way it does for me, but all I get is the same canned response and no indication that they have tried to duplicate my issue using my reg key.

Can someone help me with this?
I have been a loyal customer for many years, and tell everyone what a great product this is, but I am loosing faith in these guys,

      Dear DCE1511
      Please uninstall your v.7 DVDFab.
      Download new .exe from here:
Install it "as Administrator", at the end of installation, when prompted, do not start DVDFab.
When installation is done, open application "as Administrator" with right-click in icon.
When application is opened, Activation (Welcome to DVDFab) window should pop-up, where you can enter your key by copy-paste from email. If window didn't pop-up, go to little ? mark blue circle in top right corner of DVDFab window -> About
      Good luck

If I remember correctly was there not a reg. key change required from v5 to v6? Did you request this key or are you using the one from v5? The key from v6 to v7 is the same, this may be where you are having problems.

          Cheers!

Chris is correct, a v5 key will not work for v6 or v7. You can get a v6/7 key from this link:

Thank you all for your efforts, but this did not fix the problem.

I am always logged in as admin, but did the "run as.." option anyway, with no luck, both by cutting and pasting and by using the "all in one" option (though I was not able to access the embedded "Pic 1" or "pic 2".

as I stated I verified tht the key works fine with V6, so I know that it is not a V5 key (I got the new key when I went from v5 to v6)

something I did notice in the three or four times that I re-tried these solutions:
when I open the reg window, the box automatically displays whatever I have on the windows clip board. this gave me the false impression that the reg key had been retained.
Also, no matter how many times I try to re-register, the DVD to DVD expiration date never changes. it remains at Jan 10 2010.

Glad to hear that dsrtdwlr2 is able to confirm that it isn't just me.

is there any way to get the folks at DVDFAB tech support to try and enter my key to verify if it is something in the key, or something on my machine? I have asked several times via email, and still only get the canned response,

                Thanx again for the assistance,
                DCE

I guess you already tried to double-click on key.dvdfab6. BTW which OS are you using?
You have probably to wait until fengtao sees this thread regarding tech support.

                    Please tell us your OS.

                    In addition,
                    • are you downloading the DVDFab installer (selecting SAVE instead of RUN)?
                    • Have you tried disconnecting from the internet after downloading and disablilng/exiting all antivirus/internet security apps?
                    • are you excluding the line of asteriscs (***************) at the beginning and end of the key when copying?

The Below was sent to DVDFAB Tech Support 6 May, it includes answers to your questions. I have since attempted several itertations of Beta versions hoping my luck would change, but have not had any success.

                      in addition:
I have tried it with Symantec Antvirus and SPYWARE Doctor disabled
I have tried it with the internet disconnected
I always exclude the asteriscs from my reg key

I just reinstalled V6.2.1.8 and used the key successfully to enable it, as it is the only version I can use to make backups. luckily I have not hit any copy protection that V6 can't defeat, but it is only a matter of time before I need the improved capability in V7

Thanx again for all of your help.

Subject: Re: v7 will not accept my Key(Registration problem)

I am using Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 2350 (P4) computer with 1Tb of disk space (about 500Gb free) and 1Gb of ram.

I have used DVDFab on this same machine for several years with no problems. It was only after upgrading to DVDFAB 7.0.4.0 that I have had problems.

I have DVDFab 6.1.2.8 co-existing on this machine, and it works fine (no errors). It is only the new DVDFab 7.0.4.0 that gives me the error. I have registered the 7.0.4.0 manually (by cutting & pasteing the reg number in the appropriate field), as well as using the Reg application that you sent me, but 7.0.4.0 still gives me the error message.

Whenever I register 7.0.4.0, I get a message saying that the sw will automatically restart to activate the registration, but it never actaully shuts down the currently running session of 7.0.4.0. A new session of 7.0.4.0 launches with the correct Reg number in the registration field (so I have 2 running sessions of 7.0.4.0), but neither of the two sessions will allow me to use the DVD to DVD option without error.

I have closed out both sessions, and launched a new one, and verified that the correct registration number is in the registration field, but the program will still not let me run the DVD to DVD option.

                      Please advise,
                      Thanx,
                      DCE

Thanx, but you do not have a signature, in which to have embedded a link.

I did find a link to a "DVDFab Registration Key Problems?" under the "answers to common questions" link, but it is exactly the same solution that AGJ posted to me earlier in this thread. Unfortunately, neither of the solutions worked. I tried each several times, even combining other options (turn off any non essential processes running in the background, etc.)

                          no luck,

Frustrating to say the least and we've seen more than our fair share of problems with Fab 7 regkeys.
And you're correct, the "DVDFab Registration Key Problems?" thread was indeed the link to which GregiBoy referred.

I think at this point I'd try the following...
Uninstall completely Fab 7.xxx utilizing the program's uninstaller.
                            Recommend you also run

Be certain to enable deletion of Old Prefetch data
                            under Advanced.
I would also run the Registry Integrity scan and fix the related isssues.

Also recommend doing a final sweep manually...your basic search and destroy mission.

Now D/L a fresh installer of Fab 7058 Beta and a new D/L of your regkey.
I know this is overkill, but I swear sometimes this stuff is like voodoo.

Keep your fingers X'd and give it another shot
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Thanx, but that did not work either. and this is getting old!

If only someone from DVDFAB could try it themselves with my key and tell me if the root cause is my machine, or my regkey, or their SW. I have asked several times, and all I get is

                              1 uninstall it
                              2 DL the latest version
                              3 try again
                              4 goto step #1

please excuse my frustration, but I spent weeks going through this same drill via email with DVDFAB tech support before coming here. Though the assistance from you folks has been an order of magnitude greater than DVDFAB support, I had hoped that by going to a public forum with my problem, they would put a competant tech support rep on it.

I am an engineer. When your product doesn't work, you figure out why and you fix it. You don't keep telling the end user to keep trying until it works, unless you can explain why this time, the result might be different.

regrettably, they don't teach Voodoo in engineering school :-)
