No error - just does not open - Using Vista Home Pro

I can not get DVDFab to open...

We I click on my icon, the welcome "spash/reg" page opens, but when I click the "Start DVDFab" button at the bottom nothing opens.

I'm using Windows Vista Home Pro w/2G processor, 2G Ram, 250G HD, 30G free HD space...

When I look in the Windows Task Manager, under Applications - nothing is running, but when I look under Processes there is a DVDFab.exe with 33+k running...

I have been using this software scene 6-whatever and have been keeping up with each update... I have used this produce over 50 times until now...

This is a new issue that started about four weeks ago...

    Please, any ideas?

This happened to me the very first time I installed 7.0.6.7. I hadn't seen it before with 7.0.6.2. I would launch DVDFab, nothing would appear on my screens, but it showed up in Task Manager.

I restarted my PC and haven't had any issues with it since, and I use it daily. Pretty weird.

Try to uninstall, download again from DVDFab.com and install again "as Administrator". Do not open at the end of installation, but open "as Administrator" when installed and register with your existing key.

Just wanted to note this happened to me again and I am able to reproduce the issue. This is with DVDFab 7.0.6.7. I have two DVD drives in my computer. I placed the Region 1 DVD of Ponyo in the drive I normally use and started DVDFab. The registration screen came up, but after I clicked the button to continue, the main DVDFab screen never opened, although DVDFab was listed in the Processes tab of Task Manager.

This was a pretty hardcore freeze, as Task Manager was unable to kill the task, and I couldn't even restart Windows; it hung trying to kill all tasks at shutdown. I had to power off completely.

It happened the next time I ran DVDFab, but the second time I noticed that my DVD drive was still spinning, which I found strange. I popped out Ponyo and BOOM the DVDFab main screen came up. At this point I put Ponyo in my other DVD drive, and DVDFab picked it up. Seemed to take maybe 5x longer than normal to load DVD info, but eventually it completed, and I'm ripping the DVD as I type this.

Maybe something unique about this DVD?

BTW: In my case, anyway, I always disable User Account Control on all my Win 7 and Vista systems, and my account has administrator privileges. At least in my case it seems to be DVD-specific.

This sounds like either a disk or DMA problem.

Also, try running Fab as "Administrator" not just an account that has admin rights.

Tried... before I bugged you all...

            I have uninstalled and reinstalled:
from the start I went back (I download to my hard-drive each install package - I'm a file pack-rat)
6.218 ver - same issue: does not open beyond reg page
7.040 ver - same issue: does not open beyond reg page
upgraded to 7.051beta ver - same issue: does not open beyond reg page
upgraded to 7.067 ver - same issue: does not open beyond reg page

I have tried opening as "Admin" but not the install...

the only thing I have not done is:
Try to uninstall, download again from DVDFab.com and install again "as Administrator". Do not open at the end of installation, but open "as Administrator" when installed and register with your existing key.

BECAUSE.... the key is ALREADY in... how do I start back to a clean version where I have to imput the Key again? Uninstalling from within Windows does not get rid of the key/reg info...

As a side note I forgot to mention that I started as a trial offer that expired, then I purchased my key... is this a possible point of error?

Thank you to all that have tried to help and to those that have yet to help this BAD issue to go away...

I'm the only account... I know this sounds stupid, but how do I do as you've asked?

                Not stupid at all.
What GregiBoy is asking you to do is:
D/L a new installer and do not run, but rather save it to your hdd and close.
Then navigate to the location where it was saved, right click and from the dropdown, select Run as administrator.

                Make sense?

And you can also do the same by right-clicking on the Fab icon and "Run as Administrator" when you try to start up Fab,

How do I get back to a clean "needs reg key" load?

It shouldn't be necessary, but you can uninstall DVDFab using its own uninstaller, then use a good registry cleaner and remove any mention of DVDFab. You can also use the trial version of Revo Uninstaller to do it all in one step. When you re-install, let DVDFab write everything to its default locations.

And follow the procedures EXACTLY in the "Registration Key Problems?" thread in the Answers to Common Questions section of this forum.

                          No luck so far....

Revo sucks... going in manually and being sure with CCleaner did the trick of resetting the Registry, but it has not stopped this issue..

I reloaded the software in "Admin mode" using the latest ver. 7.0.7.0

I dropped out of the load screen before trying to open...

                          I open in "Admin mode"

I imputed the reg code again, because it was a clean trail ver again...

But the software WILL NO OPEN WHEN I CLICK THE START BUTTON...

This issue is ONLY exists with my Laptop, as I have been able to load/run the software on an XP desktop, with no problem...

I have check to see if my hardware drivers needed updating but I already had the latest...

This is some sort of software issue that frankly sucks a big one...

Updated and this is what happened

As I go back and look at my posting and look through those of others I'm seeing a patern with issues created after updating the software...

                            I started as 6.2.1.8
updated to 7.0.4.0 and have not been able to open the software correctly... it did open once after I opened a some music files with windows media player... then when clicked Dvdfab and it opened (never understood why)... but now that as not even worked...

is the issue the newer versions?

There is no such issue. The problem is with your operating system installation and nearly all posts have been resolved by correct procedures or reinstall of the OS.
