    Dual layer fails

Every time I try to back up a dvd to a DL dvd the disk is unreadable in a dvd player. Single layer disk works fine. Any ideas? Burnt DL works in the computers dvd drive.

Maybe your set top DVD player does not playback DVD+R DL media and you need to booktype them to play. In common settings-DVD/Blu-ray-write towards bottom you need to put a check next to Set booktype to DVD-ROM (Only for DVD+R/RW media). Give that a try also could you post your logs for DVDFab located in Documents-DVDFab-Logs

That's exactly what it was with mine. I threw away many disks over time thinking they were bad burns and it was the player that did not play DVD+R/RW.

If you can read the disc only in the drive you burned it in and no other, it may not be finalized correctly. Try using ImgBurn, especially for burning DLs. For a quick trial it is easier to use it as a standalone application rather than configuring it to work from within DVDFab.

If you used the VSO burn engine in Fab and the disc did not finalize you can still finalize it heres how
          DVDFab Finalize a disc

Right click on the Fab Icon >
          Left click Properties >
          Left click Find Target >
          Left click PcSetup.exe >
Left click on the + in front of Patin-Couffin driver >
Now left click once to select your burner >
Right click on the selected burner >
Navigate to the bottom of the dropdown to Finalize the media
          Hope this helps
