dvd not writeable error

hello
i am using dvdfab 6.0.copies dvd video to hd fine,but when i try to copy this back to dvd-r,it says dvd in drive is not writeable.can anyone tell me what settings i should use to copy movies,etc.from hd to dvd-r?should i select write data?i am using a sony dvd-rw drive,and,as i said it writes movies,etc fine to hd,but dvdfab 6 does not accept the dvd-r disks as writeable.any help is appreciated.
