    Full Disc Copy - BSOD / crashing (w7 x64U + w xp pro)

    greetings 2 ya all.

dvdfab is buggy and prevents user from copying some of his DVDs.

i have tried the newest 8.0.0.5 version and the problem happens in FULL DISC backup option.

if pathplayer enabled and patin couffin driver installed, the app crashes when trying to scan the disc.

the weird thing is that the app behaves like this only with certain dvds. prime examples of this are

lord of the rings - the fellowship of the ring special extended edition disc 3

    and

lord of the rings - the return of the king special extended edition disc 3.

other 10 discs of the lord of the rings SE box set were backed up flawlessly with p-couffin and path player enabled.

i tried it under win 7 x64 ultimate (2 different computers) and under win xp pro sp3.

    under win 7:

after inserting the DVD, dvdfab starts scanning the disc (pathplayer enabled) for about 3 minutes and then, the app crashes, killing the gui and system immediately shows an error message. after pressing the OK button system goes BSOD with SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION message.

under windows XP similar behaviour occurs BUT after scanning the disc win xp does show no error message - the app just closes without a message. (so no BSOD)

    what happened next:

    under win 7:

i uninstalled patin couffin driver known for many problems. dvdfab still crashed and system showed the error message BUT after pressing OK, system did not go BSOD anymore. a good sign for bettering.

next, i disabled path player and the app didnt crash... (no VOB scanning)

i tried to backup the discs, successfully.

well, i assume there is something wrong with path player while scanning certain dvds.

please, take a look at it.

    with regards,

    rockass.

If you have made any recent changes to your OS or system hardware
no changes, all systems stable for 1+year on both PCs

150 Chapters or 150 Titles? I think the DVD-Video spec only allows 99 (?). Suggest trying Clone mode to copy these two. You may need to disable PathPlayer in Common Settings but remember to turn it back on. Don't know why this would cause a BSOD, but if it only BSODs on these two discs.....

BSOD is caused by eamonm.sys. Please try to update your NOD32/Eset Smart Security and try then again.

updated to the newest build of eset smart security. did not help. BSOD crash occurred again. ESS has some kind of problem with the VSO burning engine. after uninstalling ESS with VSO enabled, dvdfab crash occurred but did not go BSOD.

              so you were completely right.

the other problem is to get dvdfab working with pathplayer enabled - with certain DVDs...
