dvd to dvd failure help please

i am having trouble with my dvd to dvd i have tried using imgburn and the burning engine they (dvdfab) provide you with and i allways get to about 95%to 99% and then it says process failed. I was told not to use memorex because they are only good for coasters. I am currently using sony dvd+rdl to burn my dvds but im still making coasters with them and sometimes as soon as i put the blank dics in it tell me it failed im going crazy here does any one have suggestions or no what i should do. i am using mydell studio 1737 laptop its windows vista, intel core 2 duo t9550 @ 2.66ghz 2.67ghz my ram is 4.00gb and my system tyoe is 64bit operating system.

could you post the burn logs where the burn process fails. They located in document-dvdfab-log also the internal log as well would not hurt

Unfortunately, you have at least one and probably two, serious impediments to burning DL media.

I know you switched media, but your current sony media is actually manufactured by Moser Baer in India.
While they "have" made "some" decent media, odds are this stuff is crap.

It looks like your burning with a slimline burner...? dell notebook?
Slimline burners are notoriously inferior for video archiving to discs.

Please pick up some Verbatim +R DL media...and please try for the made in Singapore discs (MIS) as opposed to made in India (MII).
You'll need to look on the spindle wrapper.
The MII stuff is still a decent 2nd choice though.

If you plan on doing much video archiving, please consider an external burrner or an internal burner in an external enclosure...not the slimline variety.

You probably will be able to burn the verbatims in the slimline though... worth a shot anyway.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Sorry, doing too many things at once.
You're also burning too fast for this media.
                Try it again at 2.4X
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Your DVD drive does not like this blank media as it does not support the dye on the ones you're trying to use. The laser can't focus on the media try to update your drives firmware or buy some different discs
