    DVDFab never opens a GUI

    Hello everyone,

I've been having problems with DVDFab lately. As soon as I run DVDFab, the GUI never opens. I don't get any error messages or popups. I get a glimpse of DVDFab in the taskbar but it fades seconds after. The process continues to run according to the task manager

Here is my log. As you can tell from the log, I have uninstalled and reinstalled different versions to no avail. I have also cleaned leftover files and registry keys. I have even tried a previous restore point from a time when everything worked perfectly but nothing has worked so far.

    Code:
    DVDFab 8.0.1.5 (2010/09/24 21:13:38)

Here is some basic information on my system:

    Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
    i7 920 @ 2.8Ghz
    6GB of ram @ 1066Mhz
    2x Caviar black 1TB in Raid 0
    1x Caviar green 2TB
    1x 160GB samsung drive

I have not made any recent changes to hardware.
I have no external devices plugged in.
I do try to keep everything up to date software wise.
I also have Roxio Creator 2010 and CDBurner XP 4.x installed

I think everything got messed up right after CDBurnerXP's installation but I'm not sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Well first, can you post all the DVDFab logfiles as directed in the "Help Us Help You" sticky, then I woud try uninstalling Roxio Creator 2010 and see if that fixes your problem. I seem to remember that installing a bad filter. If I were you, I would just use Imgburn to burn.

These other logs are created on first run of during use of a certain feature, I think. After removing all files associated with DVDFab manually, these files are not available anymore. Unless we're looking for the last time I ran the program successfully which I already know the date, I'm not having any burning problems and the fact that the other logs are not being created is an indication of something. Anyways, the only log present is dvdfab_internal. As for using IMGBurn, I use the Roxio suite for simple video capture and editing and CDBurnerXP does a fine job for data CDs. I was previously using VSO without any problems.

        Hi Raisin
Have you checked to see if any programs you have installed use an auto play or auto run feature when a disc is inserted into your drive which may be interfering with Fab???

My autorun feature is disabled for every media and device.

I also disabled running DVDFab when at DVD was inserted back when things worked.

Have you tried installing the latest version of Fab to see if the problem still persists, if not here it is http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=8417

Also Install ImgBurn if you do not have it you will find it here http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
Open ImgBurn / Tools / Filter Driver Load Order and post back what it says

Latest version is not a beta release download it and try again as it seems the logs you posted do not have it listed

                DVDFab 8.0.2.2 is out (October 1, 2010)

Once installed give another try and if same problem post the internal logs also you may want to save the install file to computer and then right click the saved install file and select install as administrator

Before doing that you may want to check to see if your Anti-virus is causing this problem. Also it a holiday in China right now and not over till Friday so you may not get a reply till the weekend. Also some of the DVDFab Developers read the posts on the forum and help as well but they are on a week long holiday at moment so are not available till Friday

Thank you very much for the information. I have tried to uninstall the anti-virus (MSE) and it hasn't fixed the problem and neither does trying to run the program in safe mode.

To everyone in China, happy holiday!

I use MSE and it does not interfere with DVDFab. Use the uninstaller for DVDFab and then run CCleaner registry to remove the left files for DVDFab and then reinstall DVDFab latest release as Administrator to do that save the installer to computer and once done downloading right click the installer and select install as administrator. If same problem post back

I have uninstalled DVDFab and ran CCleaner registry. I have reinstalled DVDFab as admin and the problem persists

Have you tried deleting the device filters, especially Sonic? You may have to reinstall it to make it work again, proceed with that in mind.
