French subtitles

Many times, but not always, in a main movie extraction operation (DVDFab 8.0.2.2 freeware), when I select French subtitles on an english/american language film, the thumbnail preview shows French subtitles all right, while hearing english, but if I go ahead with these settings, the final product is an extracted main movie with no subtitles. Although they were visible on the thumbnail preview... I tried many times to redo the selection of these settings with great caution, but get always the same then.

Any solution to this ? Or was it an unknown bug up to now ?

What name of DVD? What the Region of DVD? What Country DVD from? A buy link would help as well. Also logs would be helpful and they located in document-dvdfab-log. Just most recent logs for the DVD

How you playing the movie? If it on computer make sure the softplayer being used has French subtitles turned on. If playing on DVD Player hooked up to TV make sure French subtitles are turned on.

subtitles problem

I had recently that problem on DVDs : 1) Barry Lyndon, 2) À tout jamais. Target region is Canada. DVDs are from US and Canada.

to copy this DVD again. Maybe you need try creating ISO file with Full Disc mode to see if the output file can play with subtitles normally on your computer.

Nevertheless, when selecting main movie and flagging French subtitles option, the thumbnail preview shows the subtitles all right... I dont understand why, once so selected, the subtitles do not end up in the produced extracted movie.

Is there another remedy to this ?

Did you try doing what I suggested in the quote below

If you want the french subs to show at all times with no user intervention, in Main Movie mode you should BOTH select the french subpicture stream by checking the box AND click to the left of the sub selection checkbox so that the default arrow appears. The Preview window will show the french subs even without a check in the box, maybe that is what you did, or maybe you left off the default arrow. For the default arrow to have any effect (on your PC), you must use a software player that reads the IFO files, i.e. use the player to open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file to play the movie. For more information, see the tutorials on the dvdfab.com website and check your players instruction manual.

You can also change the default audio track with the default arrow. I do this with many non-english films, so that the native language soundtrack and english subtitles are played by default. Dubbed dialog is terrible.

You might also check the original DVD to be sure French subtitles are present, trying to confirm I noticed I could check French subpicture and it wasn't present on the DVD. I'm just saying.
