DVD to Mobile - pegs cpu 100% brings system to crawl - fails

Hi...
I'm fairly new to DVDFab... I tried the trial version... seed to work without a hitch or any problems during trial version... for several dvd to dvd burns... and for dvd to mobile (ipod) burns...

my trial period expired... and I thought that the program was great and easy to use... so I went ahead and purchased the dvd to dvd and dvd to mobile options...

however, now I'm having a major issue...

I'm trying to burn a dvd using the dvd to mobile (ipod) option... it pegs my cpu utilization to 100%... and renders my system unusable... and even locks it up completely... I even tried to run it over night... it froze... and required a hard reboot in the morning...

I looked at the help us help you document...

stage 1 (dvd to folder) worked fine...

stage 2 repeated the same symptoms...

my system:
Dell Intel Core 2 Do CPU
T9800 @ 2.93GHz
3.45 GB Ram
Microsoft XP Professional SP3

I'm using the original DVD that I purchased...

I used all the default settings for DVD to Mobile (ipod/iphone)

only 2 log files in the dvdfab\log directory..

What version are you using? If not 6.1.2.5, please download that, install and try it then report back.

Conversions to MPEG-4 are CPU intensive. You can try changing the conversion memory allocation settings and unchecking the enable turbo CPU box in Common Settings->XtoMobile->Conversion. This may free up some resources but will slow down the conversion. Multitasking is really not recommended while encoding. Make sure you haven't selected a screen resolution that is larger than what you need for an iPod (320x240).

On another note, I presume from your post that you are doing this the best way. If you have not, please have a read of my "Best Practice: DVD to Mobile" in the forum Knowledgebase to ensure that you are.

I have found that some low volume pressings, as I suspect the disk you mention is, suffer from very poor DVD authoring and DVD specification compliance and this can also cause the problem that you are encountering.

Please do a test with a normal commercial title to prove whether this appears to be the case.

If so, the only way that I have found around the problem is to rip the offending disk to hard disk as you have done, reauthor the DVD (I use ULead Video Studio, free trial available), produce a compliant ISO file and then run DVD to Mobile on the ISO.

ps... I suspect you are on the right track... as the dvd seems to be 'low budget'...

and I was able to dvd-mobile a "good" dvd just fine...

ps... I am using the current version... 6.1.2.5
