    DVD Ripper Failed with 504.00

    Hi all!

I have been using DVD Fab for many years without a problem on an XP machine. I just did a clean install with Windows 7 x64, and am now having a problem.

I just tried the other day to convert a DVD from my hard drive to iPod format (H264), and I keep getting errors with anything above about 200 kbps (for the fixed video rate option). I previously always used 768 for video and 128 for audio when running it on my XP machine without a hitch.

This problem is similar to the post made a few days ago by Steve S.

My log file is as follows:

    ------ begin mobile work(1/1) ------

    10m 09.04s: create config(0)
    10m 09.05s: convert profile(ipod.default)

10m 09.05s: not set correct fourcc for video(28)
    10m 09.05s: info: set output video frame_rate(25/1)
10m 09.07s: h264 encode: using official CUDA encoder
    10m 09.09s: warning: h264 encode bitrate(768) exceed the standard(768), video size(320x240, 25), specify profile(0)-level(13), modify it
    10m 09.09s: h264_encode: encode param profile(0) level(13) bitrate(460)
    10m 09.16s: ------ mobile work failed(504.00 1 1 ) ------

Try turning CUDA off, set it to all software. I have never seen a message like that in the log, it must be something new. It seems to be telling you to modify your settings or the profile. Try one of the other h264+aac MP4 profiles and see if it does the same thing.

I take it this is PAL content.

It was PAL content that I was trying. Tried all H264 profiles with no luck.

Just tried it with CUDA off, and it worked, albeit a lot more slowly. so that is my short term fix. Thanks.

Well, that worked well for one title, and when I just tried another it went to error again. The log file is contained below.

The error this time is attributable to the Volume of the audio - I usually set it to 200% (never had a problem on my XP machine), and for some reason I can only to get it to convert when audio is set to 100%.

          Hi austfox
Try clicking the edit button on the main screen and set your frame rate to 29.97 and try again to see if you get the same error for this movie.
EDIT Download MediaInfo found here http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en and scan your original source video and set your frame rate on the edit page to match the original.

I've down-graded back to version 8.0.7.3, and having CUDA enabled is working fine now - although I've only trialled a couple of titles.

              Hi austfox
Glad you found a solution, just remember that older versions are not supported.

I've posted this so many times I'm sounding like a broken record. But errors that are 50x.xx.xx are not Fab errors; they are mis-configured Windows registry errors. The registry is calling a non-existent application left behind during an upgrade over the top of an old version and that’s why when they roll back to the old version it calls the correct application that time. I bet a dollar an uninstall and CCleaner on the registry this problem goes away!
How to post the internal log

But you are forgetting that I did a clean install of Windows 7 x64 (onto a brand new drive), and loaded DVDFab on top of that, which was version 8.0.8.5. Therefore the registry would not have had any registry data left over from previous DVDFab versions.

Looks like you owe me that dollar!

That threw me ausfox. Send me a bill. And it doesn't mean there wasn't a snafu during an install.
