BD Ripper (3D Plus) After ripping, how do you view?

I just purchased dvdFab yesterday and managed to rip a few chapters from a BD movie successfully as M2TS files.

My question is: how do I then view the M2TS with dvdFab?

If I can't do this, is there another file format that I can rip to that is viewable within dvdFab? I notice dvdFab can view chapters from the BD disc itself just fine, but it wants to be pointed at a disk or ISO image rather than M2TS files on my hard drive.

What I was hoping to do (in case this helps) is put together clips from my favorite movies all onto one BD.

Thanks in advance for any help.

DVDFab is not really a player, but it does have a Preview function that will allow you to view content. If you want to watch these clips, get the (free) VLC Media Player at http://www.videolan.org/vlc . DVDFab doesn't really have an editing function for Blu-ray that would allow you to combine clips from different movies.

VLC is a good player and you can used as signals suggested.
However, if you want really good player (also free), you should use this one: http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/

According to VLC's site, it doesn't handle blu-ray (or M2TS files)...?

I also checked out the website. They're still all excited about Vista and it doesn't mention anything about blu-ray's but I'll download it and check it out based on your recommendation.

I tried VLC and that didn't work. The Media Player DOES work - very nicely - for video, but I cannot get any sound. I've tried most of the options (my sound card is an RME Fireface 400 pro audio card). I can't seem to get it to translate from the source format to stereo. Any experience with this?

              Thanks for the tips!

Thanks, Terry. I do have VLC 1.1.11 but it doesn't seem to want to play the file (details of which are in the post above).

Yes, it did... probably because you were using "m2ts.ac3.XXXX" preset?
You kind of lost me here. Correct me if I'm wrong:
                        (a) you want to create a potpourri of scenes from your favorite movies, and
                        (b) you want to create BD or M2TS file to play it on your computer
                        Correct?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I guess I was using that preset - being unfamiliar with the software I didn't notice (but did just now). So that explains the AC-3... with regard to the other profiles, is there somewhere I can find an explanation of them? Normal vs passthrough etc?

So, yes I'm trying to make a blu-ray demo disc which will be a potpourri of scenes from various movies. Ultimately I want to author a BD disc with them, but before I do that I need to be able to view what I have on my hard drive.

It's paramount that I don't re-encode video or audio such that I lose quality. I want to keep the clips bit-for-bit identical. Can dvdFab do that or does it always re-encode?

Yes, DVDFab can re-pack content from one container to another without re-encoding - that's what "remux' and "passthrough" literally mean.

DVDFab can not author the DVD or BD. You have to use another program for that... However, if you want to use chapter cut, not a custom cut, you can select start/end chapter points and rip your content one chapter at a time if you want.
I would suggest to rip desired chapters using "mkv.remux" profile and re-pack them into mkv files. MKVs a far better container to work with.

If you want to stitch them together without transitions, you can use mkvmerge; and you can pack it into BD using tsMuxer when all pieces are stitched.
IMPORTANT: all pieces must be coded identically for this project to work, so you might consider coding anyway.

If you have more questions I will be glad to help.
