DVD Ripper Need quick help, Iphone and Ipad profiles not working

    Hi all!

I have been using DVDFab's DVD Copy for years for ripping full DVD's to the HDD (using all the default settings) and then using DVD Ripper to convert ripped DVD folders to MP4 for my iphone and now ipad2. Everything has worked fine until the last few weeks. For some reason no matter what profile I use, when I import the mp4 file into itunes and try to sync it to my ipad or iphone (original) I get an error saying "cannot copy to your iphone (or ipad) because your iphone cannot play this format" or something similar.

The file plays fine in itunes it just will NOT sync to the i devices.

I've tried every iphone / ipad profile as they sit, as well as modifying them to use stereo audio, reduce resolution, etc. I can't figure this out. I've tried on multiple machines and always get the same error. I've tried on multiple movies (Gnomeo and Juliet, Despicable Me, Nemo, and others).

I could really use some help as we're getting ready to fly overseas at the end of the week and REALLY want to have movies for the kids to watch on the 11 hour flight!

    Thanks!

    Russell

There should be no need to modify the profiles. I have an iPhone4 and iPad 2 and I use the iPhone4.h264 profile for both. All the content plays on both devices. Make sure you have the latest iOS installed and the latest version of iTunes.

DVDFab 8.1.1.5, iTunes 10.4 and works great on my iPad, maybe even better than past versions. I'll attach a screenshot of how I set mine up:

I definitely have the latest version of iOS, DVDFAB, and itunes. None of the stock profiles work.

I will try with the settings posted above and see if it makes a difference.

Just got home and checked my versions. itunes is 10.4.1.10, iPhone iOS 3.1.3, DVD fab 8.1.1.2.

I'm downloading DVDFab beta right now to test. Hopefully it'll work.

Just a quick update. Using the latest beta of Fab and using the settings posted above worked better, but still not 100%. Out of the 12 movies I attempted, 8 worked and 4 didn't. They can all play fine in itunes but cannot transfer to the iphone or ipad.

            Adjustment Bureau
            Hotel for Dogs
            Scooby Doo Abracadabradoo
            Incredibles

These are the movies that will NOT transfer. They have the exact same settings as all the other movies, but for whatever reason, will not work.

              Dvd to iPad workaround

I've been tuning the settings in what seems like an eternity!

I finally ended up with something that works - at least with dvdfab 8.1.1.2 and iTunes 10.4.0.80.

Every time I rip/convert a dvd the profile in the main menu (the screen that opens when you start up dvdfab) has to be changed to "ipad.h264" - and it has to be changed manually for every title on the disc that I want to rip. Making h264 the default profile does not work. When I choose "default" the ripped video turns out jerky and absolutely useless.

It's really no bother changing the profile when you only want to rip one title from the dvd. But when you're ripping a lot of titles like TV shows and extra material it's quite annoying.

I hope this may help some users. If anyone out there know how to overcome changing the profile please tell me.

              Cheers,
              Mike

Please try one of the newer Betas, 8118 or 8119. The current iOS for a CDMA iPhone4 is 4.2.10.

                      Hi klemme,
The default profile you saved should have changed some data, which makes the output fies jerky.
So my advice is using the profile DVDFab provided.

I see from the log that this is being converted at 25 fps, so is the original a PAL disc?

@terry5: And how do I recreate the original dvdfab default?

@signals: I assume it's PAL, because it's European and region 2. Isn't PAL the European standard?

Process failed - DVDfab has turned it's back on me...

I updated DVDfab and now I'm totally lost. I've quoted the log below.
Now DVDfab gives me a "Process failed" no matter what profile I choose for converting to an iPad format.

Any help that could get me back on track is much appreciated. It's really frustrating! I have an IQ above average, I have a job with a decent salery, I can dress myself in the morning and tie my shoes, I walk erect (most of the time) and I usually don't walk around drooling making strange noises. Still I can't make DVDfab work! What the f*** is the matter?!
