BD Ripper (3D Plus) Frequent filter failures - Error 504 (QuickSync)

I am having trouble completing QuickSync transcodes. For example I tried to batch transcode 4 Blu-rays and all failed with the log messages below.

They seem to happen randomly, most frequently when I am away from the computer though, either having switched my AVR to another source, or the screen has turned off after inactivity.

CPU Intel 2500K, Lucid Virtu, ASUS Z68 based MB, Win7 x64, DVDFab 8.1.7.8

    Any suggestions?

Yep. Don't use it or see if there is an update to it that solves the problem.

Fab cannot fix crappy drivers/software from the manufacturers!!

I am sorry, can you clarify what you mean? Don't use what? QuickSync? That's a DVDFab supported h/w acceleration feature on SandyBridge CPUs, that speed up encoding 4-5 times.

Lucid Virtu? That's needed to have access to QuickSync h/w accel while also having a discrete video card. I have the latest version that doesn't completely crash DVDFab (another thread).

Quicksync.... I bet Fab does not access at a hardware level but through drivers/software. This is where it all turns to KaKa.

You may not care for the way he said it, but I think Greg is probably right. Try updating the drivers for everything, it fixes most GPU problems. Others with discrete cards have occasionally reported problems when trying to use QuickSync.

Yes, thanks. I would however not have posted my question here, if I had not already installed the latest drivers for everything.
All the transcodes completed separately and successfully, while I was using or viewing movies on the same system. Since the failures appear to happen when I am not using the system, I have a feeling there is some kind off power saving feature going on, that shuts of the GPU part of the CPU, when it thinks it's not needed, but I have not yet been able to reproduce it in a way that could verify this. If I do, I will follow up here.

Be sure to do so, it may be that it can be prevented by a little code magic in DVDFab.
