    DVD Ripper Queue processing stalls-maybe

I'm experimenting with queue processing and noticed that it appears to stall at 40%. On the other hand maybe it just needs to catch up-it certainly reached the 40% mark faster than I expected.

Since it takes significant time I don't stay & watch during the processing. The 1st time I tried it (generic.avi.h264.mp3 profile, 2-pass high quality) it had finished when I returned about 3 hours later. So for comparison I ran it again, this time with generic.mp4.h264.aac profile, 1-pass fast quality. This time I returned after 1/2 hour-and found it apparently stuck at 40%. So I stopped it & started over (double-checking my settings). This time I returned after only 8 minutes-and it was already at 40%. It's now at 16 minutes-and still at 40%.

So I'm wondering, is it really stuck or is the 40% invalid? Maybe it pops out to 40% within a couple of minutes & then 'waits' until the processing actually reaches 40% before advancing? The queue is processing two 1-hr movies so I'm guessing a half-hour each is about right for the fast quality. Reaching 40% in 8 minutes just shocked me...but that's what it said. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

You can always check to see if processing is actually going on by clicking on the Preview tab at the top of the process window. If the image is frozen or absent, there is no video processing occurring. The DVDFab internal log will help you (and anyone trying to help you here) figure out what is going on, attach it to a post.

Further checking shows that the queue processing isn't the issue-it was an error in my testing, i.e. it's stalling on several files and it happened that those were the ones I tested in the queue. The ones I tested individually are the ones it doesn't stall on. All the videos with problems are from the same DVD so I suspect something glitched in the DVD Copy operation. (Not certain though because several of the videos that don't cause problems are also from that DVD.)

I'll attach the log anyway but I'll also start over with a fresh copy, then see if the videos still cause problems. Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know. Post the log from the new Copy and Ripper operations if you do them again. They will be at the end of the log file as viewed with Notepad. See if the output of the DVD Copy process will play correctly on your PC.

The new copy has the same problem as the old. But I do have more information-the video not only plays well from the copy (in VLC) but also rips fine into AVI (h.264+mp3). The problem is that the mobile device requires MP4 (h.264 + aac) and that rip stalls. I've attached both the process & burn logs for the copy & rip. Thanks.

            Hi pchelp
As a work around you could try and older version like 8073 or 8085 which you can find here
I always use 8073 for my conversions.
            Hope this helps

I'll do that & post back. Relatives in town this weekend so it probably won't be until next week, but I'll get it done-eventually. Thanks.

8.0.7.3 worked but the maximum resolution is lower than with 8.1.9.6-I guess a lower resolution is better than a failed rip though. Thanks. Is there any way I can have both versions installed at the same time?
