    DVD Ripper DVD to MP4 fails to start

    I have two movies I have been trying to convert to MP4 for viewing on my Toshiba TV and they just fail right off the bat. One is Battleship, the other is Johnny English Reborn.

    My settings are default for DVD to genericMP4-AAC and below is the output from my log file.

    ------ begin mobile work(1/1) ------

    1m 23.84s: info: create config(0)
    1m 23.85s: info: convert profile(generic.mp4.h264.mp3)
    1m 23.85s: info: dvd playlist(1),angle(0),chapter(1->21),3D(0)
    1m 23.86s: info: streams((480.2)(128.2))
    1m 23.91s: info: set output video frame_rate(24000/1001)
    1m 23.92s: CUDA GPU acceleration for video encoding enabled
    1m 23.93s: info: h264_encode: encode param profile(1) level(22) bitrate(777)
    1m 23.96s: --- connect filter failed(502.24 1) ---

    1m 23.97s: ------ mobile work failed(504.00 1 1 ) ------

    You might try turning CUDA off. Go into common settings and set all to software and give it a go.

      Please check your settings, you said generic h264+AAC, the log shows h264+MP3. Try the iPhone4 MP4 profile if the TV will accept it.

        Here is the other logs, I tried MP4-MP3 and MP4-AAC:

        ------ begin mobile work(1/1) ------

        0m 32.66s: info: create config(0)
        0m 32.66s: info: convert profile(generic.mp4.h264.aac)
        0m 32.66s: info: dvd playlist(1),angle(0),chapter(1->21),3D(0)
        0m 32.66s: info: streams((480.2)(128.2))
        0m 32.69s: info: set output video frame_rate(24000/1001)
        0m 32.70s: CUDA GPU acceleration for video encoding enabled
        0m 32.71s: info: h264_encode: encode param profile(1) level(22) bitrate(777)
        0m 32.82s: --- connect filter failed(502.24 1) ---

        0m 32.83s: ------ mobile work failed(504.00 1 1 ) ------

        Same error. Setting everything to software seems to work using the generic profile. I was trying to use MP4-MP3, but no audio was transcoded, does anyone know why that is (that is why I'm using AAC BTW), but I ripped battleship into iPad format with no issues.

          You still have the GPU stuff enabled, your last log:

          0m 32.66s: info: create config(0)
          0m 32.66s: info: convert profile(generic.mp4.h264.aac)
          0m 32.66s: info: dvd playlist(1),angle(0),chapter(1->21),3D(0)
          0m 32.66s: info: streams((480.2)(128.2))
          0m 32.69s: info: set output video frame_rate(24000/1001)
          0m 32.70s: CUDA GPU acceleration for video encoding enabled
          0m 32.71s: info: h264_encode: encode param profile(1) level(22) bitrate(777)
          0m 32.82s: --- connect filter failed(502.24 1) ---

            What are you playing the file with wrburden? I'm thinking maybe you don't have the codec on the device to play the mp3 audio. Download MediaInfo, it's free, and you can see if the audio is actually there in the mp4.

              That was only a log to show that I was encoding mp3 and aac, that's all. My PC having issues playing MP4 H264+MP3 could be a codec issue (just test playing with Media Player), but my TV will not play the file if it the audio is MP3 either, only aac so maybe it is a restriction of the TV.

                That's probably what it is. iTunes nor Windows Media Player will play a video with an mp3 audio track out of the box. I just made a short video mp4+mp3 and neither would play the audio, Nero ShowTime and DVDFab Media Player played them with audio fine. Have you tried AC3 audio for the TV?

                Generic.divx.audiocopy should work on the TV. Play around with the bitrate until you get what you like.
