BD Ripper (3D Plus) 9.2.2.6 not displaying subtitles

I'm trying to rip Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Rings BD (Region B) but cannot get the subtitles to show. I have tried with "Display only forced Subtitle" on and off, and have selected either "English" options (I can select only one at a time, not both together), but no subtitles appear. There is only one main movie track on the disk, all others are simply credits (that I can see). In fact, I cannot get any subtitles to show with any setting - I'm glad I'm not hearing impaired. An example of where subtitles appear is between 1:25:00 and 1:26:00 if you want to check.

I can play this disk with other applications, like Cyberlink's PowerDVD 15 and the subtitles appear by default, without any tweaking of the app.

Can anyone help? Is there some setting I need to change?

    Paul.

Thank you, october262. That would explain why the subtitles function in dvdFab isn't working. However, I'm still not able to see the "embedded subtitles" for the translated Elvish.

My output device is a Samsung Galaxy Tab2 7.0, which shows a screen resolution of 1024x424 with the CropAspectRation=Auto, and 1024x576 (16:9) with it set to Original.

In the Video Edit screen I ensured that the AspectRatio is "16:9 (Auto-Detect)" and the CropAspectRatio is set to "Original" with Keep Aspect Ratio ticked ON. The Crop screen shows Distance to Edge = 0 in all 4 directions, Width=1920, and Height=1080. I have tried the following Subtitles settings:
None, 1st English, 2nd English (both options are labelled just "English") with Display only forced Subtitle = OFF and again with it = ON. I have done a few tests with Keep Aspect Ratio = OFF, and with CropAspectRatio = 16:9, as well. I'm using the Video Edit facility to check the results of my settings.

In the Video Edit screen, the Source Preview does not show the "subtitles" both within the video frame, and the black borders. Consequently, there's none in the Output Preview window. Note: in PowerDVD 15 the "subtitles" appear within the video frame.

Well, I'm open to further suggestions, anyone. It appears v9.2.2.9 behaves somewhat differently to the earlier versions used in that forum link you provided.

      Paul.

Checking it. The link was for DVDFab v8 and is not relevant here unless you are doing the exact same version of the disc.

Thanks, signals. I thought from the processing description that it referred to an earlier version of dvdFab.

It looks like v9.2 needs different settings to render embedded subtitles. Perhaps your tech support people need to be alerted to this problem as v8 seemed to have worked, but v9.2 is failing.

I have now achieved success with this issue.

I did all my checking of the parameters in the Video Edit screen and all the selections I made, as per the v8 workaround, showed no "embedded subtitles" in the Video Output window. I have now done an actual rip using the parameters used in v8 and the "embedded subtitles" show in the output video file. So, my problem is solved.

It's a pity the Video Edit facility doesn't show these subtitles. Perhaps this point could be looked at the dvdFab technical staff.
