DVDFab using massive amounts of RAM - unusuable

    Hi,

I'm trying to convert an h.264 file to xvid.

    h.264 input:

    VIDEO_CODEC_NAME H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
    VIDEO_CODEC_TYPE avc1
    VIDEO_DAR 1.776
    VIDEO_DURATION 27:40.680
    VIDEO_FRAME_COUNT 41517
    VIDEO_FRAMES_PER_SEC 25.000
    VIDEO_PICS_PER_SEC 25.000
    VIDEO_QF 0.159
    VIDEO_SAR 1.250
    VIDEO_SIZE_X 720
    VIDEO_SIZE_Y 576
    AUDIO_BITRATE 0
    AUDIO_CHANNEL_COUNT 2
    AUDIO_CODEC mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC
    AUDIO_SAMPLE_RATE 44100

    xvid output:
    1,500 kbps bitrate
    Stereo
    mp3
    xvid
    PAL resolution

    Problem:
DVDFab 7.0.3.5 uses an unbearable amount of RAM while converting the file. The amount of RAM the two DVDFab processes are using is increasing by the second until the system crashes. The latest number I saw was more than 1 GB of RAM.

DVDFab 6.2.2.0 initially uses less RAM but is increasing the amount gradually every second until it too consumes every bit of RAM available and the system will eventually crash.

I tested it with several different h.264/MP4 files. DVDFab is simply unusable for converting the files I tried.

    Any ideas or any help?

    Thanks.

I recall similar situation long ago, when processed content were piled up in memory without dump. I'm pretty positive, it was PathPlayer related. Please disable PathPlayer and try again. Please provide result
    sigpic

Please post your logs the default location is:

    For Win7 C:\Users\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log
    For Vista C:\Users\User Name\Documents\DVDFab\Log
    For XP C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

      Hi,

I have disabled PathPlayer and tried again. The problem persists. DVDFab is converting but does not write from memory to disk. It's exactly like you say - no dump.

It's definitely not file related since the problem exists with all h.264 files I tried.

Please attach the DVDFab logs, particularly the internal log. Make sure the target drive is available and responding normally to the OS.

          Hi,

logs are activated. But I have to stop the converting process before it crashes my system because it uses too much RAM. During the time the process runs nothing is being into the logs. There are just empty.

There is only one entry in the burn_vso.log. But I don't think it will help in any way:
