    BD Ripper (3D Plus) Freezing Mid Conversion

    Ive been attempting to convert Blu-ray to blu-ray rips on my hd to wmv and out of 8 movies ive only been able to get 3 of them working without any issues. The program itself doesn't freeze but rather it just stops converting, my cpu usage drops to levels as if dvdfab wasn't even open but the timer still goes and nothing shows up for FPS, everything just sits there and no progress is made.

      Im converting to xbox360.wmv.wma10
      1-pass

      Video:
      15000kbps
      Framerate- Same as source
      1920x798
      Deinterlacing enabled

      Audio:
      256kbps
      Dolby ProLogic II

      Subtles: Only force at direct render to video

      My system has an i5 2.67ghz and 8gigs of ram running the windows vista 64-bit ultimate system sp2. Ive done this same process with over 80+ dvd's using dvdfab with this system.

          My dear Ayeohn,
          I'm pretty positive, your problem is in a bitrate. 15000 Kbps is waaaaay too high for this container, you should reduce it to 4-5000 Kbps or lower.
          BTW, what's up with your sound? Why are you degrading HD MA sound to 256 Kbps Dolby Stereo???? C'mon!!!

          //addition
          yes, you have processed 80+ DVDs, but that was DVDs, not BRs. DVD's bitrate is barely in 4-5 Mbps range...

            I have the audio bitrate set as high as it lets me, and its not like i have a high end sound system on my comp, its just a logitech 5.1. Its nice but its not a true surround sound.

                Ayeohn,
                Can you please deselect any of subtitles, including forced ones and try again. Thank you

                  The default video bitrate for this profile is around 10000 kbps, it will allow settings as high as 15000, but I think you will get good results if you set the video bitrate to produce about .200 bits/pixel, which is between 7500-9500 kbps for most content. Not sure why it is quitting on you, make sure it is not power or (more likely) heat related. If you're just watching on a PC, use the smaller screen size (12xxX9xx) for faster conversions and smaller output files.

                    ok, ill try the subtitle thing and the other bitrates. Im 100% sure its nothing heat related, my computer has some serious cooling power and its even been a bit chilly the last few days. Also, i need the large resolution because my computer is hooked up to my 42inch LCD so i definatly need the video to be as large as possible.

                      Question out of curiosity. How wmv became format of choice for you? And what reasons for it?

                        @IP

                        I agree with you.

                        If the OP is just using software to play the title on a PC hooked up to the TV, MKV format would be a far better choice than WMV.

                        As we both know, There are far better FREE media players (VLC & Mediaplayer Classic) than Windoze Media Player.

                          I can't stand Windows Media Player!!!!! It's like iTunes - extremely user unfriendly, tons of garbage, and you are prisoner of that pile of crap!!!!

                            idk, ive always been a fan of microsoft(Zune Owner right here) and i like to not have to maintain multiple libraries so i just organize everything with zune software and then use wmp to play videos and zune to play music. Just personal preference i suppose, but i did take your advice and convert to mkv so i tried convert the movie Burn After Reading and dvdfab crashed right at the end of the conversion and when i tried to play the mkv file it caused my PowerDVD 10 to crash but im assuming thats because the conversion never finalized.

                              Oh man, I feel sorry for you, genuinely. PowerDVD is another pile of crap. please do yourself a favor, follow this link and download player that works:

                              try it, you will thank me later. It will play anything, including your beloved wmv, but with remarkable stability, reliability and quality. Oh, BTW it's free!!!
