BD Ripper (3D Plus) Has ANYONE converted Blu-Ray to iPod Classic?

I've been using DVD-mobile for years with almost 100% success and think it's the best DVD conversion software around.

However I have been unable to convert ANY Blu-Rays that can be played on an iPod Classic. The file loads into iTunes, but iTunes refuses to load it onto my iPod 6G (Classic), with the error ".. was not copied because it cannot be played on this iPod". I have been using 320x240 resolution. I've tried all the permutations of the other settings as well as Blu-Ray to MP4 without success.

I wondered if anyone at all has managed to play any converted Blu-Ray on an iPod classic?

When I try to play the file in Apple Quicktime, the video is jerky. Although this may be a Quicktime fault, all DVDs I've converted play perfectly in Quicktime and on my iPod.

I've also tried putting file produced by "Blu-Ray to iPod/MP4" back through "File to Mobile" and the result will then load to iPod, but the sound has dissappeared! I have tried all sound settings.

Support have been helpful (at least DVDFab do reply, unlike many other software companies), but still doesn't work..

    Any ideas anyone??

You are using settings for the iPAD, there is no profile in BD to Mobile for the iPOD. Try using the one for the iPhone instead.

Thanks for the advice, but you're incorrect. There IS a Blu-Ray to Mobile profile called "iPod / iPhone" as well as another called "MP4" - and neither works. I've even tried creating my own profiles without success.

If you look in the Profiles2 folder you will see that the profile is for the iPhone, which I suggested you try. If that didn't work (with iPod limited settings for screen size and bitrate) I don't know what to suggest. The available screen sizes in the Generic MP4 profile are far too large for an iPod, don't know if you changed that or not.

As stated earlier, screen size resolution is set to 320x240. Bit rate I've tried various values from 100 to 500 (I normally use 384 for DVD to mobile and I see no reason why this should be different for a Blu-Ray source). Neither the iPod/Iphone or MP4 profiles produced a file that can be loaded on to an iPod 6G.

It's not as if I have an old or new or obscure mobile device. Apart from possibly the iPhone, the iPod 6G is the most common mobile device there is. It's been out for almost 3 years and it's still the current 'top-of-the-range' iPod!

I'm still wondering if anybody has ever managed to convert from Blu-Ray to iPod Classic - I can't find any success stories in the forum (yes I know it's where people moan about issues, but I can't even find any "it works OK on my iPod, but not on my xxx widget" stories either).

That's because they only moan about the issues and do not post if anything actually works. I myself would like to see posts that say they had success using certian settings and profiles but that never happens. Well it does happen on occasion but to actually find those posts is like finding a needle in a haystack

Have been using dvdfab for while now and had no problem converting normal dvds to mp4 to play on my mobile samsung omnia hd,recently i have bought my self a blu-ray player and tried several time to convert blu ray to mp4.
Have had varying degrees of sucess, some play fine on the computer, while other are very jerky.but non of them play at all on the omnia either sound is not playing or picture doesn't.even tried avi which my mobile plays fine with normal dvd-mp4.have tired varing the bit rate etc.no joy at all.one thing i could think of being the major difference is the 23 fps cap rate with blu ray, perhaps being able to increasing the fps would make it much more able to play on mobiles that may not support 24fps.
              using 7.0.4.0

I'm a little late to this party, but I do have a way that I've been converting BD rips to my ipod. It's a 3-step process that takes a little time, but it's the only way I know that works right now.

First, I rip the BD to my HDD using BD to BD "full disk BD50" with the HD Audio Removed.

Second, I use BD to Mobile - selecting the MKV option. I convert the movie into an mkv.h264.audiocopy file. I choose the 1290x720 resolution and keep the bits/pixel at the default .015. This usually gives me a bitrate of around 3300 or so depending on the movie. (I keep this file, by the way for playback on my computer, etc).

Third, I use File to Mobile - selecting MKV to ipod. I can choose the settings here that will match the ones that my ipod will accept. (Mine is the ipod.h264 profile).
