DVD Ripper V8 - DVD to iPad Conversion

I just tried this profile and it was extremely slow, <8 FPS and the machine was unusable for anything else even though the 4 cores were only sitting a 9%. where most generic H264 audiiocopy profiles encode on this same machine at >120 FPS and it is quite usable (All GPU crap turned off in both cases)

As this is a H264 profile also, is it the audio encoding that is hogging everything?

The ripper has a new feature added to it where you can adjust the Memory amount used for converting. Even has a choice to downmix the audio if wanted

Yeah, I know that but on all other profiles, it zooms along.

Also, I wanted to test it "Straight out of the Box"

Also, after copying the resultant file to the iPad, the video is very jerky but the actual image is stunning.

It plays fine on the PC.

I will try fiddling around with the bitrate and report back.

        Hi GregiBoy,

Which profile do you use? Since there are two profiles for iPad, normal 720p and high 1080p.

The 1080p profile is slower, and you should use it if you plan to output video to TV.

        Best Regards,

I used the 720p one as my first test.

"the video is very jerky" - I just found the same thing on my first attempt using v8, Mad Men disc 1, episode 1 to iPad, 720 profile.

Performance is fine - 48min video took 9 mins to convert.

With Bluray to IPAD, the video is jerky for me too, but it's odd: In fast moving scenes its like the fields are reversed or something, but in slow scenes it seems ok. I sure hope this get's resolved, after spending $150 lifetime subscription.

The Jerky iPad video is a known issue

The Jerky iPad video is a known issue. See numerous posts here. Sorry to see that in V8 it isn't fixed. The long work around is to convert it to a .MKV and then convert that to iPad.

DVDFab 8 keeps on crashing with Ipad conversion

DVDFab 8 crashes everytime when converting a DVD to the Ipad format. When it starts, it says that CPU CUBA is enabled and then it crashes. DVDFab 7 still works fine when converting to Ipad. I did get a meanfull reply from the company. Anybody having the same issue?

DVDFab 8 keeps on crashing with Ipad conversion - Same issue

I have trial of DVDfab 8, considering if it's worth purchasing, and it's crashed every time I've tried DVD Ripper and saving using the profile iPad.H264 (not 1080p).

Jerky playback in itunes & iPad with AVI to m4v

OK, tried another DVD and crash problem not happening on this one.

Followed GregiBoy's awesome guide and all went well, creating an AVI file.

Then, with Video Converter - iPad, used conversion settings from profile iPad.h264. Resulting m4v file plays fine in VideoLAN media player, BUT is still really jerky in iTunes and iPad.

I am tearing my hair out with this as have around the world trip in 4 days, with 2 preschoolers, no portable DVD player, and none of their favourite DVDs on the iPads. Eek.

I only had an iPad for temporary testing, but the ones I made using BD Ripper were very good. Did not try any with DVD Ripper, sorry. Try setting the framerate to 30 fps and use one of the MP4 profiles (e.g. Generic h264+AAC MP4).

                          iPad movies are extremely jerky

Fengtao, please improve the video converter for iPad. I'm using the iPad2.

The videos are extremely jerky, and I've spend so much time trying to find a setting that will work. I've succeeded with a few dvds but most turn out useless.

I never had any problems converting files for the iPod Touch.

Please please help the iPad users out!

I just finished True Grit for the iPad using DVD ripper. I ripped the main movie to an HDD folder and used the folder as the source then used DVD ripper. Bit rate of 1500 and downmixed audio to stereo @ 128 bit. It's perfect, I can not reproduce a problem with 8.0.9.8.

The only problem I have is no chapter markers.
