DVD Ripper What Do We Need To Do

I'm getting more and more frustrated with this software. I used the 7.xxx series and patiently waited for the "upcoming release" to fix the AV sync issues that have plagued us all for a year plus now. Version 8 has been out for sometime now (and is honestly useless), but I see no more threads about the sync issues in it, and I see no information about fixes coming out.

I understand that these things take time - but this isn't free software. This is some of the most expensive software out there (and going up in price!), and you've had lots of time.

I'm even more concerned as I've contemplated going back to the 7.xxx versions so I have a working product again, but just read a thread where a moderator said there is no support for anything but the most current version...

Am I the only one having problems? With the 7.xxx versions, my audio sync issues were mainly in the standard dvd rips. However, now, I can't seem to get a BD to rip with audio in sync, in addition to all the "problem children" i've been holding on to...

FYI - I'm not posting any logs, as they are the same logs I've always had - and I suspect there isn't anything the moderators can troubleshoot to resolve this problem (or it would have been fixed months ago). I'm looking for some sort of explanation on why we've spent hundreds of dollars on a product that seems to get worse with each update.

Update - I'm getting desperate here... Are these audio sync problems limited to the WMV profiles? Is the MKV that much better - and does it have these issues? Is it as simple to rip/compress a title as the WMV? I'm starting to think about getting a new media player, but I bought this software to avoid some of the difficulties in preparing the titles. I want a high quality video stream with surround sound audio and forced subtitles...

I rip my DVDs to xvid encoded avi files, and every one of the DVDs I was having audio sync problems with in v7 (about 20 DVDs) is now fine in v8. Of course now there's another bug with the DVD cropping in v8 so the rips are still useless to me, but the audio problem does seem to be solved for xvid/avi at least.

I think you will find lots of users in agreement here, I think somebody should step up to the plate and at the very least gives us of an idea of when will a working version 8 be released. Everything from crashes after hitting the start button to audio sync or jittery blu-Ray to mobile, I mean the list of faults with this version is huge and the latest beta update mentions items that have not even appeared on these threads!!!

I would like to see an update that actually addresses this issues that are being posted here on version 8. Tons of log files have been posted, dump files have been emailed and complaint threads are all over here with the repeat complaints being removed. Obviously the internal engine of DVDFab went thru some major changes, but the bottom line is that it does not work properly and it should of never ever kept beta.

No hard feelings or anything but I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I spent my hard earned money on Lifetime for all DVDFab modules and have a few issues as well for what I use DVDFab for. I still have old versions installed on my computer that create a working video for what I need.

Now mind you have not tested Version 8 completely yet as I have no time at the moment but do plan to run a few tests this weekend for the DVD Copy and DVD Ripper. I will not do any tests for BD Copy or BD Ripper as that just takes too long on my computer. As for only supporting latest releases, that because need to get them fixed as old versions are just that, old and outdated. All Software programs being sold only support latest up to date releases.

all members need to post the info asked for in the Help Us Help You sticky for all problems if you want DVDFab to work like it should

The wmv+wma9 profiles produce perfect AV sync, either on PC, on crappy players like the Disney Mix Max, or good ones like the DroidX. The problems many of you mention do not appear to be universal, but some of them (like DVD Ripper forced subs) are. The developers are concentrating on fixes for problems like these right now, so hopefully upcoming versions will provide some relief. Please take AGJ's post to heart and supply detailed information about the problem, i.e. what profile and settings you are using, whether it happens with all Source material or just some certain titles, whether it is noticeable on all playback devices, the version and region of the title, the conversion settings and Fab version number, etc. etc.

This thread could be very useful in getting some of this corrected, but posts must supply meaningful information to be of real value in fixing problems. This is notice to our moderators to delete posts from this thread that are just rants, vents and bitching, which serve no purpose in generating solutions.

What is the main difference between the wmv9 and wmv10 profile. Do the both offer 5.1?

I'm seriously considering redoing months of encoding and going to MKV. Is anyone using MKV and having better luck? I assume that it is a better format anyhow, correct?

I'm going to try a few of my problem titles with the wmv9 and post if I get any different results...

I have had no luck with V8 and WMV. Always major Audio Synch issues and anything after 8.005 gives me picture issues as well. Picture issues being pixelization, blank scenes in the middle of the movie, especially during fast action scenes. Does not matter if it is wmv 9 or wmv10. I use v7 and v6 and no issues. There seems to be some issues with wmv codings. Lots of issues with apple / mp4 encodings. Have tried GPU - All software, upload logs to support, etc. If the converter can be solid for almost everyone in previous versions then it needs to strive for that kind of perfection in the new releases. To many silly things being improved in the new Betas instead of addressing the major issues the product has.

Adding small pointless features no one really cares about instead of fixing major conversion issues with profiles should be a higher priority. I could care less about drag and drop if the product can't work correctly after I darg and drop a file onto it.

It has gotten to the point where this has to hurt business because anyone trying the product is going to run into issues and will not be able to do the things they want and the things that are advertised it can do, don't actually work. In addition I used to recommend the product to friends and any one who asked. Now I can't because I don't have faith in the new versions.

Hoping new features are halted until the core of the product is fixed. It's been way too long for many of these issues to go without any fixes.

The major thing you will find with wmv9 vs. wmv10 is that wmv9 does not support 5.1 audio.

Yep, that's about the only difference between 9 & 10. 5.1 Audio is a relatively important part of creating a quality file if you plan on playing it through a full sized audio video system but not necessary for a Zune or like sized player.

You were warned once about useless rants, which have nothing to do with "ideas" or solving the problem.

Well this thread was eye opening. I have had the same issue. I went back to 7 for after the first 8 came out and thought I would try again on this 8. Nothing has changed. I guess I will go back to 7 for awhile longer .....

Please start your own thread about this issue and post the DVDFab internal and process log files from v8 if any are created. Describe the symptoms fully.
