DVD Ripper Scream - 2:35:1 being shown as 4:3 output file is a bit small....

    Hi All,

Im trying to rip the scream trilogy and DVD fab keeps detecting the source as 4:3, even though its widescreen 2:35:1.

I have tried everything i can think of, and all i end up with is a small screen version of the movie - i have even tried a custom resolution to match the resolution of the original, and nothing works.

    SCREAM I: Title(1), Play Time(01:46:26)
    Original Frame Resolution (768 x 576)
    Original Aspect Ratio (1.33:1)

    Im sad.

If im missing anything or being simple - please feel free to \slap me.....

    Can anyone make me happy?

    Ta!

It may be letterboxed widescreen or not authored correctly. If you use automatic cropping, DVDFab should still produce a widescreen output though. What did you mean by the output being "a bit small"? Please use MediaInfo to read the output file and post the results if automatic cropping does not fix it. If you don't have MediaInfo, just google it.

      Hi,

Thanks for that - Just trying with the auto cropping on now - see how it goes.

When i play the file after its been MKV'd normally in VLC its a small box in the middle if the screen and i have to zoom to make it go fullscreen

D/L'd media info, and it wont read the ISO, just gives me filesize, once my new rip's finished ill media info that and post results.

      Thanks

This is a sign that it is a widescreen image in a 4:3 letterbox. The cropping should remove it. You may have to play with some of the other controls if the image looks stretched or squashed.

          Will do thanks,

I'll have a fiddle over the weekend, out of all my DVD's these are the only ones i have had trouble with :-)

Oh well, makes me want to scream ;-) see the joke?

Extract from Media Info on the MKV i have just created - still just gets a box in the middle though :-(
