DVD Ripper DVD to MKV

I cant use Ver 8 to rip dvd episodes to MKV. The process will start and then never go any further than 0.25%. (elapse time keeps running_

I can do the exact some thing with 7506 and it works every time.

I have checked and all the settings are identical, it just any ver 8 fab does not work.

Are you using DVD Ripper to make an MKV from your DVD? You are in the File Transfer subforum and you can't use that to do what you want. In version 8 you need DVD Ripper.

Thanks for moving, sorry picked wrong thread.

Its not so much a problem as more of a bug report as I can use 7506 to achieve what I want.

The settings are DVD "to MKV", 2 pass, copy audio, 720x, bitrate .500, and CUDA options, however I don't know how relevant they are as like I said it works for me in v7, doesn't in v8 with the exact same settings.

Hope this helps identify the problem; I am not really interested in bug testing, but I can try a few things I guess, if it will help Fengtao identify the code.

to rip dvd episodes.

You can open Common Settings->General->A/V Codec, set video decoder as software and set video encoder as software to rip DVDs if you still have the same freeze issue.

I downloaded 8024 (8023 links to this) and tried with this version and problem is still there. I tried with both cuda and software en/decode options but it made no difference.

At 0.23% it stops
FPS slowly decrease down to zero
Elapsed time continues to count.

Have tried again with 8028 and DVD to MKV still does not work. (as above I am converting TV episodes from DVD)

There has been a slight change that I think is related to the CUDA bug in this release., though I dont know if it will help with anything

Using software coding, MKV will still hang at 0.23%, elapse time keeps counting and FPS counts down until at 0.00. Which is the same as before.

The difference using CUDA is that it hangs at 0.17% which is the only difference, all else is the same, just like above.

Please post the DVDFab internal log from v8028. It may help the developers duplicate and correct the problem.

I'm having the exact same problem. Anyone have any ideas or is this a bug?

I haven't done much with BR Ripper recently, but without a doubt, v.8.xxx has been very buggy.

I just tried Armegeddon as a test...used 8028 Beta,
mkv.h264.audiocopy, fixed bitrate @ 10,000 kbps.

Also, since I've never had any luck with BD 2-pass ----> mkv,
I've used 1-pass for quite some time and frankly, I don't see a difference between the two, quality-wise anyway.

The hdd files playback just fine and no av sync issues.

My A/V Codec settings are:

I have the same problem. More than year i user ver.6 and 7 w/o problem. This week i renew to ver.8.

I went back to version 7.0.9.0 and everything is all right. The version 8 will return again later, when the functional. With Version 8, I tried all possible settings and nothing helpful. sorry
