DVD Ripper Version 8.0.3.2 - No Video in DivX/XviD file after 2 pass encoding

I updated to the new 8.0.3.2 and now when I try to convert a dvd to a generic divx/xvid with mp3 the output file is the right size but there is no video contained within the file.

When I revert back to 8.0.2.2 it all works perfectly.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling instead of updating and that didn't work either.

Is this a known issue that will be addressed or am I a one off?

    In my settings I use:
    2 Pass
    3200 kbps video
    320 kbps mp3 audio
    720x400 resolution
    Deinterlace
CUDA is disabled as I thought that might be the issue but it doesn't work with or without it.

Like I said above these settings worked in 8.0.2.2 and all the way back to 6.2.1.8 it only occurs for me when using 8.0.3.2. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Pc setup is:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ stock 3.00GHz
    4 Gig RAM
    nVIDIA 9800 GTX
    Windows 7 64bit

You neglected to mention what you were trying to play this back with. Have your tried the free VLC player? You might want to include the output from MediaInfo (google it) and posibly the logs (see Help Us Help You sticky thread) so the developers have more information.

All of the internal codecs were updated in v.8.0.2.8 and there was a problem with the xvid codec (which is used for all the "DivX" profiles) that was fixed in v8.0.2.9 but may have crept back in. I get a crash when testing anything that uses the xvid codec and have reported it to the developers.

I'm using WMP12 I'll do another attempt and post the results.

Basically the file doesn't show up as a true avi file when I use 8.0.3.2, The file name, size and extension are correct but there is no thumbnail just the generic avi thumb and all the file properties are empty except for size and creation date. It's like it hasn't finished finalizing it.

I'll post logs and screen shots after my next attempt in the morning (it's 2am right now)

Like I said though when I revert back to 8.0.2.2 I don't have this issue

A Couple things I have noticed:

            1. If I double click the file nothing happens
            2. If I try to open it from within WMP12 I can force it to play i.e. it doesn't want to open it but you can say "open anyway", it takes while but it eventually will play it.

With every version between 6.2.1.8 and 8.0.3.2 everything works as normal, meaning - full file properties, open with double click no force necessary.

Attached below are screenshots of the following:

            1. A Thumbnail of an 8.0.2.2 divx avi showing its thumbnail - Everything is as normal with this file.
            2. A Thumbnail of an 8.0.3.2 divx avi that is unable to generate a thumnail
3&4. Blank File Properties of the file without thumbnail

You can see the file properties of my working 8.0.2.2 file in my post before this one

Please let me know if you need any more info.

My converted xvid/divx files don't display video too. Only the audio stream is played without the video.

Ok...well at least we're not alone.

Hopefully it will be addressed in the next version.

This still hasn't been resolved in 8.0.4.0

                      Still getting same outcome.

When using - generic.avi.divx.mp3 i get this warning in the log
warning: stream tag DX50/0x30355844 incompatible with output codec id '63'

When using - generic.avi.xvid.mp3 i get this warning
warning: stream tag XVID/0x44495658 incompatible with output codec id '63'

So does anyone know what "incompatible with output codec id '63'" means?

when I get these warnings it seems to be when the video file does not get finalized correctly.

I use DivX often for the PS3 and haven’t noticed this issue since the revision signals mentioned. I usually use audiocopy so I tried Jonah Hex DivX with mp3 audio just now to see if I could reproduce this issue and it plays fine. One thing I do that might be different is rip the main movie only to the desktop , burn a back up from there and then make my mobile copy from the rip, I never rip to mobile from the disc.

Forgot to mention The version I'm using 8.0.4.0

Forgot to mention The version I'm using 8.0.4.0
If possible could you also just check a couple other things for me?

                              1. Does your fresh rip contain all of its file properties or are they empty (right click - then in you details tab)

                              2. Does you new file display a thumbnail preview?

Examples of what I'm currently getting are found in posts 5 & 6 of this thread:

                              thanks for your help

Edit - I only use DVD rips on my HDD too

Also do you get any instances of - warning: stream tag DX50/0x30355844 incompatible with output codec id '63' in your log?
