I just need it for playing my xvid and other things and it's working good on this machine (i3 win7)

It needs a full screen mode though, or I couldn't find it if it's there.

It has bright strips (desktop) at the top and bottom of the screen that's distracting.

Just double click on the window where the movie plays, it will go to full screen. There is also a control for this in the upper left corner.
