      Given the subtitle source are graphics based VOBsubs, it might be useful to offer an option to mux these directly into the .MP4 container. As most hardware and software media players support VOBsubs in .MP4

      EDIT: If it's useful to you. Here's a link to a AVC+AC3+VOBsub in MP4 sample...

          This is what the 'VOBsub in MP4' sample looks like in DVDFab Media Player 2.4.3.9: -



          However, the position of the 'graphics based' subtitles is far too low. They should appear within the image area, not the black matte area.

          For example, VLC Media Player 2.1.5, my Oppo BDP-103 and Mele A1000G/VidOn AV200 position the 'graphics based' subtitles here: -
