    I think I'm close to giving up....
    I have no idea why you can see the subtitles (as gibberish or not) and I don't see any, just the embed

    What are your settings? did you change the charset?

      I have no idea pal? About all that's left is the fact I make my MKV and MP4 files with FAB so there may be some issue with authoring/compatibility with yours?
      How to post the internal log

        90312 ,
        I made the .MKV I posted with DVDFab DVD Ripper.
        This DVD set only has subtitles in English and Spanish.
        So there is no Hebrew for it.
        I did find some .srt subtitles for part of it in Hebrew but all of those appear to be "gibberish".
        I did find a .srt of one of The Flash TV series episodes that displays in Hebrew in DVDFab Media Player.
        I worked on my OS & got MS Notepad to display the Hebrew correctly as far as I can tell.
        If I open any of the .SRTs they look about the same.
        This is 3 lines from the working .srt:
        1
        00:00:01,048 --> 00:00:02,547
        :"בעונה הקודמת של "הפלאש

        2
        00:00:02,549 --> 00:00:04,316
        ?מה קורה לי

        3
        00:00:04,318 --> 00:00:06,651
        ?אני לא היחיד שנפגע, נכון
        This is 3 lines from one that doesn't work:
        4
        00:00:44,228 --> 00:00:45,575
        .אני במשרד שלי

        5
        00:00:45,575 --> 00:00:50,273
        ...פגי... , יש לי פה סיטואציה

        6
        00:00:52,617 --> 00:00:53,316
        .או , האנק
        They look alike to me.

        Since I got one to display Hebrew I know it's not DVDFab Media player.
        At least not is the .SRT is written correctly for it.

        I didn't have any downloaded .SRT that displayed no subtitles.
        Most were in "giberish".

        @ ElvisC ,
        I tried every charset with Hebrew beside it.
        None made any difference ,
        The one that displayed Hebrew as correctly as I can tell worked with the setting as "Default".
        I looked on the Internet and a lot of people get the "gibberish" when trying to get Hebrew to work in Notepad & subtitles.

        That is the reason I thought it might be DVDFab Media Player that couldn't work with Hebrew.
        When I saw 90312 post the image where Hebrew was working in his .
        I worked to get Hebrew to display in mine.
        It finally did with the one .SRT .
        So it is possible .

          Is it possible for you to upload somewhere that I can download one of your MKVs or MP4 created using DVDFab DVD Ripper?
          perhaps this is the issue
          I'm not creating files but downloading them - mkv & srt seperatly

            HI ElvisC,
            I hadn't used the upload site I have an account with for some time so I had to make sure it was still active.
            I've never used it much.
            I will PM you a link to the download .

              cholla,
              Thanks a lot for that!

              My findings:
              1. External srt subtitles did not work at all on my Win 10 for all files
              2. On my son's Win 8.1:
              ----English srt worked well with the test file
              ----Hebrew srt worked well with the test file
              ----Another MKV I have - subtitles were displayed but Hebrew was gibberish

              Important issue - any change I made in the settings to the charset made the subtitles disappear and never come back

                It looks like it is a Windows 10 problem .
                Probably something in the way DVDFab Media Player works in Windows 10 as well.

                Good thing you had an older OS you could test with.
                I believe I posted this but I'm using Windows 7 .

                On the Charsets . I tried changing to different ones even odd ones & the Hebrew from the Flash.srt displayed correctly in all of them.
                To me that means all were being ignored & some "system" setting from my OS was being used.

                It looks like the .MKV DVDFab Ripper created works better with the subtitles.
                At least in the Windows 8.1 you tried it in.
                For me on Windows 7 as well.

                Interesting that the Flash.srt was gibberish on a different .MKV.

                  It worked for 90312 on his win 10
                  So maybe I have different version

                  But since most players display subtitles properly I guess it is up to DVD Fab team to fix the player if possible...

                    As previously posted I'm using Windows 7 .
                    I also tested other media players as well as DVDFab Media Player.
                    All but one that I haven't updated for a long time played the external Hebrew subtitle .
                    That is the one for the Flash . Even when it wasn't the correct subtitle for the video.
                    The Flash subtitle was one I downloaded in Hebrew to test with.
                    I also tested a .MKV created with another software not a DVDFab software.
                    That .MKV also displayed the Flash subtitle in Hebrew correctly.

                    It does seem to be a Windows 10 problem at least for your OS.

                    You might try this if your OS isn't already set this way.
                    It is how I got the Hebrew to display correctly in MS Notepad.
                    On a side note I had to change it back to English because some buttons in a couple of my softwares had Hebrew letters.
                    From Control Panel/Region and Language/Administrative/Change System Locale/Current System Locale .
                    Change to Hebrew (Israel) .
                    This requires a reboot to take effect.

                      One last idea, change the .srt to .sub and give it a try. If it's a folder with several select the specific .srt to rename you're going to use. I made the mistake of renaming the folder and left the .srt files in tact. After renaming it still worked.

                        @ 90312 ,
                        When I used MediaInfo on the .MKV I created with DVD Ripper and added a .SRT subtitle to.
                        I appeared that DVD Ripper had converted it to VobSub just like the other subtitles that were already on the commercial DVD.
                        I'm surprised that changing the file extension worked .In that .srt & .sub are so different .
                        At least when they are opened in Notepad.

                            ElvisC,
                            Just curious .

                            Did you try changing the .srt file extension to .sub ?

                            I did this as 90312 suggested & loaded it as an external subtitle.
                            It worked in DVDFab Media Player but I'm using Windows 7 and it worked with the .srt .
                            The change might trick DVDFab Media Player on a Windows 10 to accept the external subtitle.
