Make sure that there is no checkmark for your optical drive (D) on the exclusions page in Passkey settings, it is easy to get these backwards, I have done it. Try disabling Hybrid disc support if it is active.

Thanks but there is definitely no checkmark for the optical drive D on the exclusions page and Hybrid disc support is disabled.

Disc is not opened but I don't know how to change / effect this.

I've tried with 4 different types of disc and for each I get disc is not opened

          thanks

            Hi tooth
You could try updating the firmware for your drive found here

Note: If you do not know how to flash your drive do not do it, it will render your drive useless, and you take full responsibility for doing so.

Also why is it that you do not have the region set for your drive?

                @xubin

I am having the same problem. I ran the trial version under win7, then upgraded my system to win 8 and bought a copy and now I get the same thing. I'm not sure if it has something to do with win8, but here's my log.

Btw, to make sure it wasn't something with the disc/movie, I used a movie I had ripped previously with no errors.

And on a random attempt to make it work, I checked "keep protection", that works.

                Any Ideas?

Something's definitely changed somewhere - it doesn't appear to be the software itself. Maybe there's been an update pushed out that's breaking things? A disc that used to work is now breaking.

That wouldn't really explain why it used to work and is broken now, though. From back in November, it also notes this:

                      Code:
                       0m 14.27s: Revision: 1.70
That seems to indicate that indicate I'm on a later revision of the firmware at this point. The newer logging in in 8.0.9.1 doesn't print out the firmware version, but from a disc earlier that day (I upgraded from 8.0.7.7 to 8.0.9.1 in the hopes that it would fix that issue, but I don't have a log with the same disc ID) indicates that the firmware version hadn't changed from when it used to work:

                      Code:
                      DVDFabPasskey 8.0.7.7 (2013/02/26 21:13:57)
