Closed Captions

I received a batch file that will extract the closed captions (CC) from an MPEG file.

I then have DVDFab create an MKV file.

I have found that if there are no CC, DVDFab aborts the conversion.

Is there anything that can be added to the software to say if the file is empty, treat it as if no closed captions available instead of aborting?

Wally, we have no idea what this batch file creates. Keep in mind that closed captions are not the same as subtitles. What is the source of the batch file?

I take the MPEG file that I download from the Tivo. I remove the commercials and save as an MPG file. I run cc extractor, and it creates the .SRT file (closed captioning) file.

However it appears that the PBS station is not sending the closed captioning down the line. So when cc extractor is run it creates a zero length SRT file.

When I then go to DVDFab and go into Converter, if the SRT is 0 bytes, DVDFab craps out on me.

I am hoping that the engineers can simply say that if they have a 0 length SRT file, that they disregard it.

Wally, can you make a short (5 minutes) Tivo file such as the one you begin with (no other processing)? It should have closed captions. If yes, I will send you an upload link.
