Other/General Fengtao device software required? Purpose?

During installation of Virtual Drive I am additionally prompted wether I want to install "Fengtao device software".

Do users have the choice between yes and no or is it a MUST?

What is the disadvantage of NOT letting Win7 install this device software?
Does the whole virtualDrive not work or only a particular feature?

This may be the driver. It does not install anything odd. I think if you tell it no it won't install at all. Just another stupid message from windows. I depend on other software to protect me and have set windows security settings so low that it doesn't hound me about things like this.
