Unifab 2.0.3.8 is a complete DISASTER!

Installed 2.0.3.8 after a complete uninstall and removal of AI model folders, etc. and the software when running the Upscaler is non-functional. All the models were successfully installed, yet during the Upscaler it sits and spins on "Downloading video models..." What video models? It shows that the plugin and AI models were previously downloaded. As a result, Unifab is totally non-functional! NOT HAPPY!!!

In the converter module, the are no settings for subtitles anymore and the settings for the audio conversion allways jumps back to aac. After conversion, all subtites disappeared. So you can say, the settings are buggy, I have switched back to version 2.0.3.7

Indeed, $200 plus dollars for the new SDR to HDR module and now the Deinterlace module just spins after downloading the models.
How can something that has such an "in your face" bug get released, what a bunch of clowns!!

And I tried the new SDR to HDR module from DevFab ripper module and that produced output and ran quite fast.
        The result was not playable!!

I have to say I was mistaken here, the UniFab breakage is not related to the new DvdFab SDR to HDR conversion, and it appears to work quite well, we will see as I use more movies with it.

Version 2038 UPSCALER SLOW: I tried with several movies and the remaining time to finish the upscaling is more than 30 hours.
When doing the same with previous version 2037 the maximum time is 3 hours. I've no log as I did not wait till conversion was done. I'm using windows 11 and AMD radeon RX 7900 XTX - 24 GB Saphire Pulse graphic card. Please check at your end and correct. Many thanks.

I rolled back to 2.0.3.7 due to the problems with 2.0.3.8. Makes me wonder if this wasn't a rushed release void of any real testing. Not sure if the AI models roll back too. I know I delete the UniFabAI folder under AppData and cleanly swept the system before rolling back (also before I upgraded). I've learned that you can't trust Fabtech's upgrade process for their software. Always better to download the upgrade (especially if you have the extended service like I do) and install in place and not just click on their Upgrade button in their notification pop-up. With regards to Unifab, it always seems like every time they do an upgrade that fixes one thing, they end up breaking other things in the process. I've never had a decent release since I started using this software around 2.0.3.5.

The interface looks like it has been completely revamped and is ugly as can be. They need to restore the interface to where it was at before in 2.0.3.7. Some of the interface is not even formatted properly and other aspects are not user-friendly at all.

So it's been a whole week and not even an acknowledgement of a problem.
Meanwhile I can't encode anything because the affected functionality is what I most use.

I'm getting really sick of deselecting subtitle tracks only to have them included in the encoded output.
From what I can remember that's been broken for a long time now, maybe since release.

Interesting, I had already completely uninstalled and installed again with no change, is there more I could do to "reset" the application?
I hadn't considered antivirus interference; I'll give that a try.

Btw, I can't speak for Mandalorian1 , but the spinning I see is not when downloading the models (according to the feedback on the screen), it's passed that and is at the "Converting Video" point with the "Speed" (of fps) remaining 0 no matter how long you wait. It's even more puzzling as there appears to be some GPU activity, not as much as an encode but a good amount more than when it's idle.

That's correct raven-au. It is not spinning while downloading the models. It's during conversion. It's an endless spin that forces you to believe after a long period of waiting that nothing is happening. I think their dev team rushed this out in anticipation of providing new feature support before the Christmas holidays, perhaps to attract more sales. The problem is that it is riddled with "bugs"! They need to spend a good deal of time fixing the current feature set and less time adding new features. Each release introduces more and more errors and instability. I've listed issues to them with regards to HDR which now over-compresses the output when you use it causing excessive pixelization. Never did that before in earlier releases. Their HDR Upconvert around 2036 version was turning content a reddish hue. They fixed that in 2037 only to introduce an over-compression issue that nearly reduces the size of an upscaled video to 4k into nearly half the size once HDR is applied. Do you really think that upconverting to HDR would reduce the size, especially by nearly half? Before I believe it actually increased the size which makes more sense given you are ENHANCING the content. For everything they fix they create more additional problems. This whole software is a colossal mess. I used the Upscaler to upscale 480p to 4K and the output looked almost laughable. Distortion to facial features on actors and excessive smoothing to the point of live content looking more cartoonish than real. Their AI needs a BIG overhaul. Maybe time to look at Topaz or some other solution out there. These guys dig themselves in deeper with hideous software glitches with each new release!

BTW... Keep your eye on any support tickets you create. They were closing some of mine with NO evidence or confirmation they'd been addressed or fixed. I reopened them and told them NOT to close them unless the issue had been fixed. Just letting everyone know to keep an eye on support tickets. Also don't accept their stupid robotic solutions to clean install, etc. in expectation it will fix the problems.... It NEVER does! Also, never use their automated update (the one in the pop-up window telling you there is a new version available). I was told by others for other products to never trust that to work properly. I always download myself and install. In some cases, I'll uninstall the previous version and install the new one. I know it sounds like a hassle, but you have to do some stupid things to avoid as many issues as possible with their new software version releases.
