I never even heard of a prepaid card until this forum. Never had one. Never needed one. Didn't know they exist. Everything is obvious to those who already have experience.

As I said, the only option available to me to subscribe to prime using a second account was with a CC that had a name on it, and an address (which will have to match the cc details). I'm in NZ and we don't always have everything other countries have available. Not saying they're not available here, just never seen one. My wife has never seen one either and also didn't know they exist. The point seems moot now, because it would appear to sign up here, you do need a named cc and an address.

Your regular CC has your name and address attached to it. When they verify, it comes up as a match.

Prepaid Card, when they verify, it will ALWAYS match because there is either nothing attached to it or you attached WHATEVER address and even name you wanted when you activated it.

In any case, New Zealand is not North Korea so you have plenty of prepaid cards in stores and online

I am just going to close this thread as it has run it's course. I have created my dummy account and started downloading. If anyone gets a message, create a new thread.

You seem very confused with how prepaid cards work.

There is no name because you can use any name. Some cards require you to activate the card so you go to their website and enter the information. The information can be whatever you want. I really thought that part was clear to everyone. The only thing that needs to be real is the address. And when I say real, I mean a real address but doesn't mean YOUR address.

You could create the Amazon account under the name Peter Pan and it would work. Obviously, that may raise eyebrows, but you can use any fake name. I have fake names for Hulu, Amazon, HBO Max and Peacock. They are all linked to prepaid cards. You do not select Prepaid anywhere. You just use the regular credit card section.

I am not trying to be a dick here, but this seems so extremely obvious to me that I am kind of shocked at some of the questions and assumptions.

The one you showed way up in the thread is a Vanilla gift card, and the minimal activation usually involves simply a zip code and setting a PIN.
They also claim that if you activate the card to an account on their site that it also gives you fraud protection. Very often see these Vanilla ones drained so activation is a plus!


Anyway, would a detection be as simple as how SF downloads? It downloads the audio track separate from the video track. I don't imagine a set top player does that. Or a regular browser for that matter. Maybe a set top will download both simultaneously?

That one activates automatically as soon as you purchase it.

Set-top boxes don't download, they stream, so of course it would be video and audio at the same time. Think of it like Direct Streaming in Plex.

I'd not be surprised if Amazon do actually check card zip as a risk factor (but don't tell you), yes, card zip does exist outside the US, and it's usually all the digits in your address joined together.

I don't know which country you are referring to ..
.. but I already wrote in post 207 here

This is not in all countries possible ..
.. it can't used for pv in Germany => info

.. but for paid channels you need (mostly) a local payment method.

Doh...having a senior citizen moment. You know, I actually saved that link and copied all the info into Scrivener, but more than a week has passed and I'd already forgotten. Getting old sucks for some of us!

I'm still a little confused about the Prepaid Credit Cards. Do they have your name on them?

I also read this morning that Prime video only accepted gift cards when you already had a active account.

I have never personally seen a prepaid cc here, but that isn't to say they aren't available. I'll ask around town the next time I'm in.

I thought I read somewhere you had to already have a active account to use a prepaid gift card. So how is this done. Accounts always appear to want every frakkin detail they can get. So...you guys that setup another account, where does one start? Using the same details (cc) of an account that has been banned doesn't seem like they way to go about it. Somewhat confused about all this.

I have clean legal account and still have zero issues downloading movies or subscription service content via Amazon in USA and no warnings since this issue started.

Everyone knows if you are banned from somewhere and you want to create a new account, you change your IP FIRST. You shouldn't even use the same computer actually.

That's exactly what I did first. The only relevant thing was that I had linked it to the credit card used on the locked account. It is possible that I later used the same IP address that I used to access the locked account. So after confirming that the IP and host used were completely different from before, I logged into another backup account and linked a new credit card. After that, I never received any warning emails again. But some accounts were sacrificed for this (because of my mistake) ...
As you said, these are just speculations. But I understand that I have to use my account carefully from now on.
