Warning email from Amazon

Hey Jack! I know you like to experiment with various programs and things found on GitHub and elsewhere, considering the possible historic nature of this issue, could it be possible that you got nailed by a prior test trial of another DRM diversion rather than StreamFab? It was written "...Account suspensions are not limited to leaked certificates. Users of other DRM circumvention tools that don’t rely on them, including VineTrimmer PlayReady, also had their accounts banned recently...." Wilson is implying that their testing all over the world hasn't produced a warning for them. I'm still skeptical, and I am avoiding Amazon like the plague but looking at things historically opens up a lot of different possibilities.

Since 2022, I have only used AnyStream and StreamFab. I have used other tools before that time, but not for Amazon.

Reading all the messages here, I have a feeling it has to do with renting a title and never watching it. This is something simchris never does, and it seems he still hasn't gotten the warning. Well, that and the fact he actually watches stuff from the site/app.

I personally won't be downloading anything from APV until September. I will then create a brand-new account and go wild during the trial. If I make it through the trial unscathed, then I will fully subscribe.

Although I prefer APV whenever stuff is available on there, i am now using the standalone modules if i have an account. Currently, I only have Peacock US that has stuff I was usually getting from APV Canada. I then feed the files to VidCoder to convert to H265. 2.5 Gigs H264 at almost 8000k for shows without fast moving action is really overkill. My RTX 3050 converts each file in under 4 minutes. My only issue with Peacock is I only download at 1.3 MB/s so it's excruciatingly slow to get full shows. I don't remember ever reaching the 100 limit in a single day, when I routinely do with all other modules except DRM MPD and Channel 4

I got the warning yesterday. Decided to create another Amazon account for Streamfab downloading then purchased a digital Amazon gift card from Bestbuy and used it to purchase Prime on the account. I'm going to download things using this burner Amazon account and see what happens. There should be no connection to my main Amazon account at all ... except it's coming from the same Xfinity IP address my router is leasing ... but I doubt they'll ban IP addresses that get rotated by the ISP.

So I’m assuming that people who got a ban either didn’t see the warning or ignored it then? I don’t think Amazon would lay down a ban without some kind of warning.

It has been reported that this is not 'resolved'. At least one incident has been reported with the user using the latest version

This could be a historical thing, or it could be that this is not fully 'resolved.

I did follow the instructions like what Allnight said. I'm still hesitant to use Amazon at this time.

We almost need to lock this thread and start new one for August 1 onward if anything new actually happens. Otherwise we all keep reheating the same tummy rubbing. I have been downloading from Amazon this past week with zero issues, using latest offline installed version of SF after doing full clean uninstall/reinstall on Win11Pro here in US. "Zero fear" around here, anyway. :-)

are you suggesting that the drm hasnt been fully cracked and we are getting crappy bitrates because of it?

Something like that was discussed back then. I can't give any details.

With the last DRM update, they were still using the old version, and Streamfab just pretended to Amazon that it was the new version. Germania, or even you, told me something like that. Maybe that could be a clue...

The conversation took place at the time when you were wondering whether Amazon was using a different MPD, since the bitrates had plummeted after the DRM update...

I'm not guaranteeing anything. I could be wrong!

It doesn't seem we're hearing about any (many) new Amazon shutdowns.

they didn't mention any but that one. So who knows.
There were plenty of posts/messages here and on reddit, its possible streamfab owners just stopped downloading from amazon to be safe, and that is why we aren't hearing anything.

Personally, I didn't get notice, either by email or message in amazon account, then again, I'm usually downloading one or two things, usually MA eligible movies I purchased from sales on Fandango at Home or elsewhere, and only a day or two per week.

Since more started posting about the warnings, I've been downloading my MA digital copies from Fandango instead of Amazon. I've been noticing higher bit rate, and EAC3 JOC (i.e. DD+ w/Atmos) from Fandago, where as Amazon was only EAC3. (yup FAH is lower audio bit rate, even with DD+ w/Atmos)

so it appears to be more than just those leaked certificates are at issue here.

Sure. But the article did not mention StreamFab. They could be talking about other account shutdowns.

It doesn't seem we're hearing about any (many) new Amazon shutdowns.

I know. It is still unclear if the leaked certificates were used by both Widevine and Playready. 1) The account name posting to Github was called "Widevineleak", and 2) The timing of this aligns with people starting to receive letters from Amazon.
