Sometime in early 2024, I used SF to download whatever the free trial allowed. 3 episodes I think? I ended up downloading a lot more using the now extinct competitor. No e-mail yet but if everyone gets them, guessing just a matter of time. Since I use a shared account for a place I maintain, going to have to hope it's just a warning and the account doesn't get canned. This situation a harsh reminder to use caution.

I suspect that *everyone* with a current Amazon account who has ever used Streamfab (or similar) to download a video will eventually get one of these emails. Those who've not yet gotten this email can't credit more circumspect use of Streamfab but rather just luck that they haven't yet been sent the email. Most likely Amazon has a list of *all* accounts they suspect have used a downloader and they are working through that list. Maybe the list is sorted alphabetically by name or user ID, or when users first subscribed, or maybe it's a random sort .. only Amazon knows.
Reading this thread and similar ones elsewhere, some who have downloaded 100s of files every week have yet to get an email, whilst others have. Some who've just downloaded a few videos in total from Amzaon have gotten the email, others have not. Some with VPNs but also some without. Some who only download have gotten the emails (but not all), but also some who watch and download have gotten the emails (but again not all). Who has gotten the email and who hasn't appears to be completely random .. or depends on whatever criteria Amazon is using to sort the list of "offenders" to send the email to. if you use SF to download from Amazon and haven't gotten an email yet ... I suspect it's just a matter of time before they get around to sending you one.

I had to take a picture of my card and email it to them and my account was restored.

This is the typical case that one encounters in business nowadays where a spotty nerd with no business acumen has an "a-ha" moment and torpedoes the business model:-
- most people watch the same stuff over and over again (so downloading it once actually saves on bandwidth in the long-term) while continuing to pay prime subscription regardless (plus channels);
- most of those who download, download for personal use, scene and torrents are, in most cases, vendor leaks (don't ask how I know, I know that for a fact);
- most of the stuff is available from torrents/file sharing sites at higher (4k/dovi) quality much cheaper (if not free);
- most of the other benefits of prime are actually useless now that there's way more online competition for the sale of physical goods than there was in 2000s (even BD series are cheaper with smaller vendors through eBay, for example)
Anyway, if I ever get that "warning." my prime video bill will go down to zero from about 300 bucks a year... Great business model, morons, carry on, AmazonI wonder what the real reason is for Bezos, Catz, and Dell dumping stock...
