    DRM MPD Issue Downloading New Episodes – DRM MPD Corruption

    Hello StreamFab Support Team,

    I am experiencing an issue when attempting to download the latest episodes from Viu using the DRM MPD download feature in StreamFab. While older episodes download and play correctly, the new episodes are downloaded as MP4 files but appear corrupted. The downloaded video exhibits the following problems:
    1. Audio-Video Mismatch: The video and audio are not synchronized; the faces in the video do not match the audio dialogue.
    2. Playback Issues: The video plays intermittently, pausing or stuttering, making it unwatchable.

    Examples for reference:
    Additional Information:
    • No login or premium subscription is required to access these episodes.
    • The website requires a South Africa network to access the content, which I have ensured while testing.
    • Older episodes still download and play correctly, so this appears to be an issue with newer DRM-protected MPD streams from Viu.
    • Downloaded files are always in MP4 format but are corrupted or stuttering.

    It seems like a change in Viu’s streaming DRM or encoding may have affected the download process for newer episodes. I kindly request your team to investigate this issue and provide a fix or update for StreamFab so that new episodes can be downloaded correctly.

    Please let me know if you require any log files or further details from my side to reproduce the issue.

    I downloaded epi 39 with 6250 and epi 40 with 6251 ..
    .. both videos dl fine and result play without issues





    So I can't confirm 2. Playback Issues
    but 1. Audio-Video Mismatch is the same for both ..

    .. for s14e39 I see this info in result:
    video
    Duration : 24 min 44 s
    Source duration : 3 min 16 s
    audio
    Duration : 24 min 35 s
    Source duration : 24 min 44 s

    I dl the audio manually (using yt-dlp, without SF) and the result is the same !

    I would say the problem has nothing to do with DRM ..
    .. but with the ad breaks, at the black markings:

      Thanks for the info! I’m just a normal regular user so I can’t manually fix audio-video mismatches. I see older episodes download fine, but the new ones are slightly out of sync—maybe due to ad breaks or encoding changes.

      Do you or anyone else have any workaround or solution for this?

      Also, I’ve noticed this issue has been happening for the past 4–5 StreamFab updates, so I don’t think the StreamFab team is paying much attention to it.

        SF < 6247 are no more usable (info) ..
        .. so I can't say if changes made by SF (don't think so) or by Viu
        (So far, I have only tested Viu.tv in Hong Kong - it's different)

          It seems that only StreamFab can properly fix this in a future update by improving how it handles segments and ad breaks. Unfortunately, for now, StreamFab is essentially unusable for me, as this was my main purpose for using it and I don’t download anything else.

            I get the correct audio only with (paid) TubeDigger ..

              yah i am using it alredy but but the main issue for me is time. On SABC the videos arrive quite late, and for my work I need them fast, which I can only get directly from Viu

                Then you should use Viu Premium with No Ads

                viu.com in ZA have same problem with 6248​

                  6251 DRM MPD downloader not working for HRTi and Nova plus Croatia, RTS Planeta Serbia also. No download button.

                    have you tried switching to MKV and see if you still get the audio-video mismatches on the new episodes ??

                      I tried it manually with mkv and shaka-packager instead of mp4 and mp4decrypt ..
                      .. but never with mkvtoolnix in SF => and yes, it is synchronized with ep40 for me !​
