COmputer freezes during conversion for any blu ray.

HI there. I just downloaded the latest version of the software to try. I"ve been doing this every couple months to see if the blu ray rip will ever work and to this point it has not. Someday I'd like to get the software but until it works, obviously not worth the money. I"m trying to convert the blus using the standard iPad profile Mp4 and my computer freezes every time for any disc. Not sure what to do. Hardware is core i5 760, ATI Radeon HD 5870, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 Pro 32 bit, Asus P7P55D-E PRO. Help? Thanks.

        Hi fuzzyreets
Make sure you set all options to software, to do this Open Fab click the Click the Green at top right corner of the DVDFab screen, and open Common Settings > General >A/V Codec, set Video Decoders to Software and set Video Encoder to Software also try unticking Enable Lightning Re-Coding restart Fab and try again.
        Hope this helps

Try the iPhone4-1080 profile instead and see if it freezes. I use this one almost daily and it works fine for me. It should play on the iPad also I think.

            Hi fuzzyreets
Are you also converting from the drive? If so do not do this.
Save the movie as main movie or full disc, depending on what you want too your hard drive.
Then reopen Fab and use the rip you just did as your source, choose options such as audio, subtitles, etc. and then do your converting from the rip you have on your hard drive and never from the drive.

Thanks for the above suggestions. I will try them out. To update, I was able to rip all those movies on my laptop using the same settings so I'm not sure what DVDFab doesn't like in my main computer but that seems to be the problem. I'll update tomorrow. Thanks again.

These were all set this way. I will try unticking enable lightning....but that was enabled on my laptop where this is working...

I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the supported video codecs? Here is my laptop codec information:

                    Graphics Chipset :
                    Intel(R) HD Graphics

                    Supported Video Codecs :
                    DXVA_MODE_MPEG2

                    CoreAVC : cannot be detected.

Here is my main PC codec info:

                    DXVA_MODE_H264
                    DXVA_MODE_VC1

                    CoreAVC: cannot be detectec.

not sure if that means anything.....

                      Hi fuzzyreets
This is why I suggested setting to all Software, because you have an ATI Radeon HD 5870 which does not support Cuda, only NVidia cards do.
Fab uses the Cuda technology to take some of the load off your CPU so it does not have to work so hard. And ripping to your HDD first is the recommended procedure so as to save wear and tear on your drive.

Right and I indicated above they are all on software. Also indicates above is that I did try to rip to the hard drive first but it froze my comp as well.

You say that Fab worked in your laptop but not your main computer!!!
Do you have any way of monitoring your computers temps???
Also are the specs you gave in post #1 your main computer???

Right. Hooked up by bdrom via esata port on my laptop and no problems. Just slower.

Hadn't thought about temps. Good program to monitor that? I'm not over clocked or anything like that.

Yes specs in post 1 are from main computer. Thanks.
