Other Hardware 1TB to 2TB HDD?

I copy many Blu-ray movies. I want to try storing to a large HDD & copy to disc when needed. Please, add experienced comments.

I want to add a HDD to my 120GB SSD equipped PC Desktop.

Seagate or Western Digital; 1TB to 2TB 7200rpm 64mb cache

SATA 3 GB or 6GB


1st pick; Western Digital 1.5 TB Caviar Black SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 64 MB
I heard WD makes customer pay shipping.

2nd pick; Seagate equivalent

My new build has an SSD OS drive and two 2TB WD Caviar Blacks with 64MB cache. Model number is wd2001fass.

I don't think it would be very easy to beat these disks. While I haven't run them for long I am very impressed so far.

...but the disks I have are 3gbps not 6. The model number for the 6 ends with faex I think. I'm not sure that there is much actual difference in performance once installed.

I can not find a negative difference between;

Are both HDD equal in performance and life?

It might be true that I may be limited to 3 Gbps with my socket 1066 CPU i7-950.
