Have any of you tried installing an older version of DVDFab6 than the one you installed to see if it takes the activation correctly. Because if an older version will activate correctly then all you need to do is update and it should still be activated correctly. If you need older version of DVDFab6 just PM me as I have them all saved to external HDD

      AGJ,
Havent tried that but dont think it is relevant because we all want the most updated version of the program. At least I do. I had the older version installed and tried to update it with the new BETA and then all this buggy-ness started happening.

        registration bug

          Run as ADMIN.

Wow, okay, so I right click the shortcut, run as administrator and it fixes every problem I have been having. However, I bought a new "never expire" license and I already had one. I just missed this, "right click, run as asmin" trick. I have sent an email to DVDFab support and hopefully avangate will be able to refund my unnecessary purchase. Amazing what you can find in here....

Right click the shortcut and go to properties then compatibility mode. Then in Privilege Level check Run this program as an administrator. Once you do that DVDFab will always run in admin mode and no need to do the right click all the time

I am running XP64 as an administrator. I put my key into the paste-box on version 6.040, the program restarts and the status of DVD>Mobile is still disabled (my key is a forever key). I used the downloadable key, same result. Made sure it was running as administrator, etc. I previously used the trial version without any problems at all. This is really bugging me as I wanted to use the software tonight.

Edit: I just found a newer version, 6.070. I'll try that one.

Edit Edit: The newer version works.

You don't want to be running applications in full admin mode with elevated UAC unless absolutely necessary. With all due repsect, this is not sound advise at all.

the Administrator account with admin privileges in UAC, they are not the same thing. Most everyone unless in a corporate environment active directory or a child in a family runs in a profile that has administrative privileges, this is true for most. Running as Admin under the UAC was introduced to mitigate the execution of code by malicious programs and give notice to the user. Without that, it will intentionally run as unprivileged to protect the kernel and core libraries. Hence the reason we have a VirtualStore folder and items that are not admined into the program files reside. Other than installation of programs, drivers, updates and system maintenance which need to be run in admin UAC elevation, the rest of the operations of any program are done with regular UAC permissions and are recommended that way to protect sensitive system resources, such as the registry, system folder, drivers, and security certificates.

"Administrator" is the only user account on my machines, they have run flawlessly that way for years. ??

I've had the same problem the last few days with 6.070. I do a clean install of the software, including deleting the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\DVDFA b\" (I'm using XP64). I reinstall. I execute the downloaded Key.DVDFabDVD2Mobile, it registers the program and all options are enabled on a trial basis except for DVDtoMobile, which is set to Never Expire. Everything works well, I rip a DVD or two. I can even shut down the program and open it up again and everything is still enabled (attachment dvdfabworking.jpg). However, the next time I reboot my computer it's disabled again (see attachment dvdfab.jpg). After that I have to uninstall, remove the registry key I talked about earlier, reinstall, re-register and it works again until the next reboot. Any possible fixes for this?

DVDFab Support is not going to have a solution for you. I emailed them back and forth with jpegs of the registration pad and their last solution to me was for me to "try and find another computer to install dvd fab on". I replied to them and reminded them that this is the first time I have experienced any problems with dvd fab and I'm extremely disappointed in their solution. I also pointed them to this thread for more information and to see that I am not the only one having this problem. For goodness sake DVD Fab folks, fix this dang problem. I am not the only one and the buck stops here. Figure out what this problem is occurring and find a solution. We are all paid members and should not be seeing a "trial membership" after installing a new version. Either there is a problem with the key that is being generated or the actually "wordpad" that is some how communicating with windows notepad on vista machines, the problem is in your corner and we need you to provide us with a detailed solution.

I am sorry you are dealing with this, I have been a long time user and I dealt with it too and the support I got all came from friends and the developers and owners of the software did NOTHING, absolutely nothing to fix it and even will go the length of blaming you for doing something wrong instead of trying to fix it. Getting support is futile outside of what friends will give you and I am sorry to say, get used to it or find something better.

I bought DVD6.0.7.0 from the website www.dvdfab6.com who claim to be authorized retailers of the product. They sent me two links - the program itself and the key (all in one) which I had to copy-paste. It worked fine - I get all "never expires".
Then I tried to upgrade to the beta version 6.1.1.5, and it reverted to trial. Copy-pasting the key did't help. I did try all betas since the last production version - same result. Tried as administrator - same result. Reinstalling 6.0.7.0 production version gives me all "never expires" back without pasting the key.

So either the keys for betas have changed or there is something wrong with my key.

                              Any suggestions?

Also, can anybody confirm that the DVDFab6.com are legitimate authorized retailer. When I contacted them with the problem they advised to only use production versions. BTW, my email is not in the DVDFab database, although this might be temporary as I bought the product only yesterday.

                              Thank you

The only legit place to buy is DVDFab.com, you were scammed.
