In the DVDFab Common Settings, try switching the Read I/O Mode to SPTI and see if you get the same symptoms. Repeat test for the ASPI mode selection, and see if there's any difference.

[Edit] Try re-installing the driver too--delete the drive from the Device Manager, and let Win 7 re-load driver upon reboot. [/Edit]

Big have you installed any other dvd copying software, and if you did is it still on your computer or deleted?
Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need of help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.

        tli and CBR929

Toggled between the I/O modes and did not resolve the issue.

Uninstalled the driver, rebooted and allowed Windows to reinstall dvd drive driver.

No other DVD copying software installed.

        Thanks.

CBR929 asked the question that I was going to follow up with. Anyway, just to be clear, do you currently have any other software--not just DVD copying apps--installed on this Win 7 PC?

Give this article a read--even though it was written for Vista, it applies to Win 7 too--and see if it may be applicable to your situation:

having issues since migrating to Windows 7

Already removed upper and lower filters. Verified they are no longer their.

I willl again remove dvdfab, clean temp folder, reboot and reinstall..

              Ill post the results.

OK, I performed the uninstall, deleted the temp and the prefetch files,,reinistalled and now during the dvd scan I get the error ""Read/Writing Error Control" Error while reading, please choose what to do"" Options are: Retry, Abort, Ignore, Ignore All.

What does this "Read/Write Error Control" mean??

Now, when DVDFab is opened, scans a bit, stops and blows the dvd drive away, Have to reboot for dvd drive to reappear.
DVDFAB actually stops working and windows closes it out, dvd drive is gone afterwards.

There must some kinda conflict but the troubleshooter isnt detected it.

                WTF????

Have you also checked the cables on you DVD burner to make sure they are secure?

having issues since migrating to Windows 7

I have had no issues with using DVDFAB with this hardware configuration until Windows 7 was installed.

ALL cables are secure. Checked that already. I even replaced the cable for the dvd drive and swapped it back just to make sure, but with same results

The lastest specs are a result of a Speccy scan.
On post 17 was spec'd configuration off of the Dell Website for my pc.

Thank You for catching this, Ill will post the corrected info that spec'd from the Dell site for my actual pc config. I think that Speccy had everything correct but the memory

                              Hi again BIG,

Bummer!...so do you have any hair left?

                              In addiition to tli's question...

Did you have any glitches/warnings during the win7 install?
You might consider running this registry patch
                              cdgone.zip

It was created prior to Vista, but it has worked for Vista users as well and Win7 is based on similar (? same) architecture.
                              It may just work.

If you prefer to download the file yourself, here you go:

Scroll down to Restore Missing CD drive

Also could you post back with your motherboard (make & model), speccy should list the bios as well.
The dell model # would be a help too.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and... blow. | Lauren Bacall | "To Have and Have Not" (1944).

                                maineman,
I had no warnings, errors or issues when/during the Windows 7 installation.
I will investigate the suggestion on the reg patch and Speccy listed no BIOS info.

I will retrieve the BIOS info and post later it but have posted the pc Make/model number.

                                Thanks
