Big, Great to hear that you got it going. But, don't make to much noise or you just might wake that monster up and he will turn on you.
Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need of help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.

      Hey Big, Congrats!
Really happy to hear you're up and running again and glad we could help.

The internet is alive with AHCI issues and there is huge variance user to user and system to system. I've looked around quite a bit as has Johan and many others.

It seems that there are many like Johan who had nothing but trouble until the AHCI drivers were loaded.
And then there there are plenty like me who could never get the darn AHCI drivers to work properly.

I built this rig, so there's nothing in it that I didn't put in. Everything was fresh out of the oem packaging, but until I went IDE, it just wouldn't run and nothing was on it except a new Win7 64-bit os and my brand, spanking new motherboard with the latest support software.
Like I said, I even talked to tech support for my board. No dice.
      Go figure.

A few years back, AHCI drivers and ODD's had lots of problems.
Apparently things are better, but not that great.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
