Turned off UAC, uninstalled, restarted, wiped out dvdfab pf files, deleted registry entries for dvdfab, logged in as Admin, no luck. One thing I did notice, when I go to the ? button then about it brings up the welcome screen (where it lists the products you have and 5/15/10 expiration date), when I click "enter registration key", it brings up another key by default. It's shorter than my new key I purchased last night. Is this a problem? I don't want to post the key here but I guess I could PM it if that would help one of you admins troubleshoot. Thanks.

Strange stuff sometimes.
Thanks for posting a fix.
I'm running Win7 64-bit and Fab on a new build since last Oct...no problems
(I know quite a few other members with the same os without issues as well).
Curious, was this (.v7062) a new install of Fab on a new os?

I installed 7062 this morning on my W7 64 bit system, and found I was once again a trial user? I retrieved my key copied it to the desktop and associated it with the executable “Program Files(x86)\DVDFab7\DVDFab.exeâ€. Double clicked it and everything is working as advertised. I’ve rebooted a couple times just to be sure it is sticking. How to post the internal log

Sure, when you paste the key to the desktop if it doesn’t look like the program icon it’s not associated and when you double click it will ask you to check the web or select the program. Don’t go to the web select the other choice and browse to “\Program Files(x86)†then select “DVDFab7†find “DVDFab.exe†I think it’s the top application file with the program icon and then just click ok or apply or whatever it says to do. This will associate the key with the program. With DVDFab not open double click it. Works for me and I hope you too!How to post the internal log

It should not launch the program simply tell you that the next time you do it will be registered? Something weird going on?
Do you have Fab open when you double click the associated key? Don't!Last edited by 90312; 05-21-2010, 02:23 PM.How to post the internal log

Thanks for the pics. I do not have DVDFab open when I double-click on the key. Right now I am assuming (at work right now, not on home PC to test) the exe is associated with the dvdfab.exe, otherwise, how else would it launch the program when I click on it? I will double check this when I get home and let you guys know.
If this doesn't work, I will post step by step screenshots of what I'm doing [wrong] or if it's some quirk with the program or my system. Thanks again for your support guys, hopefully we can figure this out.

I may have confused you, the key doesn't launch the program just writes the required data to the registry so that the program finds it when it does launch. The desktop icon launches the program. Two completely different things. How to post the internal log

Me butting in again, when I was trying to associate the key with the program it also stated that next time DVDFAB started it would be registered (but it never did) and it then opened DVDFAB- everytime.
My operating system is Win 7 x64- Home Premium, on Compaq CQ3220AN machine, with AVG paid version anti-virus.
I t sounded like i had a lot of the similar probs that you are having until I started it in XP-SP3 compatability mode.

I understood what you meant the first time, I just mis-typed (the key needs to be associated w/ DVDFAB).
So here's what I did just now. Login as Admin, uninstall, remove any files associated w/ DVDFab, deleted registry values for anything DVDFab, restarted. Login as Admin, DVDFab installer and key (copied from the email attachment when I ordered) are on my desktop. I install DVDFab, prompts to restart, I restart. Now the icon of the key on the desktop has a DVDFab icon (I right click to make sure it's associated with the DVDFab.exe, it is). DVDFab is not open. I double-click on the key icon. It says thank you, the product will be restarted to enable the registered version. I click on ok, it opens with welcome to DVDFab screen, still showing me as not enabled and updated expire time reads 5/15/10. I try to click the "enter registration key" button, it already has a key in there (shorter, different key than my new one - I mentioned this last night). I Ctrl+V my new key over the one that came up, click register, says thank you will be restarted to enable registered version, no go. I tried the ? button then about, same process, no go.
What now? Is something maybe wrong with the key??

metaphysician, what OS are you running? It may be a problem with the key? Or a combination of things. My key is a version 6 lifetime key and my OS is Win 7 Pro 64 bit. Let's see what's different. How to post the internal log
