I have the same problem exactly with an XP Pro SP3 machine and a life time key. I can install and register DVDFAB 6 all day without a problem, but every version of 7 fails to register.

I have followed every tip etc to the letter,
completely unistalled (not disabled) symantec antivirus and spyware doctor.
reduced all security settings to minimal
      unistalled all DVDfab product.
done a search and destroy on dvdfab entrys in the registery,
logged in as admin and run as admin,
      disabled all non essential progs
      tried in Safe Mode
      ....still not change!

I did notice that when I open the resister window, what auatomatically appears in the registery key box is whatever hapens to be on my clipboard at the time. don't know if that is evidence of possible root cause or not.

Glad I am not alone in this one,

Have you tried having the key on your clipboard when you start the process?

Yes, I have tried clearing the clipboard before registering and placing the key on my clipboard before registering. neither work in V7.

          A couple of additional Oddities:
          1. The same thing happens when I open the registration window in V6. the exception is that V6 successfully completes the registration, both with the All-in-one option and the cut and paste option.

          2. both V6 and V7 show the expiration date of January 10, 2010, but only V6 actually works completely

          3. V7 has "no" under the "Enabled" Column while V6 shows "yes", and allows full functionality.

4 even after failing to register, V7 does allow me to rip DVDs in DVD9 format (Dual Layer). it is only when I try to switch to DVD5 (Single Layer) that I get the error message stating that the lic has expired. unfortunately I make most of my Backups in DVD5, so need that function enabled.

When you say install & run logged in as admin, are you actually using the "Administrator" account?

Yes, for me. I am using the true Windows Admin account. I am actually logged into the Windows session as Admin and I also do "run as" Admin for the install.

Not sure if you guys are able to generate new keys for us to try?

A lifetime key should never show a date in the right hand column. It should say "Never Expire". If v6 shows the January 2010 date also, neither one is registering correctly or the key is bad or you do not have a lifetime license. Did v6 ever say "Never Expire"?

Pretty much same problem as others in this thread. Running Vista 64 bit. Had the demo running for a month, bought a 3 year license. Installed per instructions, after key goes in program says thank you, successful installation and such. My name is listed correctly, but enabled set to "no." Uninstalled, reinstalled as admin (both on machine and by run as admin). This time enabled set to "yes" and the correct date in 2013 in expiry column. Crash during disk copy. Next time my Name is still there but enabled is back to "no." Same unistall reinstall process, this time a different fail message on different movie. Closed program and registation info gone again.

After registering (when the name and dates show correctly), try closing DVDFab before trying to copy a disc and re-open to see if the data is still there.

                        Gregiboy,
Yes, I also log in using the WINDOWS Administrator Acct, and also do the "Run As..Administrator" before installing.

                        Signals,
My Life time key was and is for the "GOLD" functionality. At one point I did purchase a one year subscription for the Platnum capability to see if I needed any of the added features. for the most part I only used the basic Gold capability, so I never renewed my Platnum.

Before purchasing the 1 year key, I had a long dialog with DVDFAB tech support and sales to ensure that I would not be deprived of my lifetime membership by doing this, and they assured me, in writing that my life time Gold key would always be valid.

I have tried the expired 1 year key to see if it would work on V7, but it doesn't. In addition, when I specifically requested my Life time GOLD key in discussions with DVDFAB tech support, they sent me the one I knew to be the lifetime V6 Gold Key.

In my case, at no time do the dates show correctly

Like i said to fengtao before, i clearly think that the problem is in the protection of the soft. I really think he should change it.

Signal, you are a genious. The problem is solved, at least on my end, they kept sending me the same BAD Key.

As I dug through my old files, I opened each email I recieved from DVDFAB, all the way back to DVDFAB Express (2004 ish) and cut and paste each key.

When I got to the key from the DVDFAB email for the v5 GOLD key it worked perfectly. It now says enabled and never expires.

I exited and restarted, and everything is still enabled, so it is sticking.

before comin here, I had asked the DVDFAB support guy several times to test the key himself, but all he kept doing was sending me my same lifetime V6 Key (that doesn't work) and telling me to register with it. If he had only tried it himself, he would have seen that it was a bad key and I would have avoided weeks of agrivation.

I will write him and ask him to update his records with the correct key. In case I ever have to retrieve it again, I don't ever want to go through this mess again.

                              Many Thanx Signal,
                              DCE

Well guys, I think my problem has been solved. I emailed registration support and they included a key and suggested I try it (didn't say it was a new one though). It is a different file size so that in itself leads me to believe something is different from my old key. Either way, it worked the first time and I'm back in business. Thanks for the help!
