      > Please try to use new beta build 8116. We fixed the issue.

As you have requested, I have tried the latest version in both
the ripping to HD, and then trying to compress to a movie-only
copy, as well as using v8.0.7.3 in both the ripping and compression
      process.

It still won't finish.... As always, the compression process gets to
14.92% (it always stops here!), and there it just sits, for as long as
you want to leave DVDFab running... I let one attempt run for just
under 22 hours, and it still only showed 14.58%!!!!

I have checked all the ripping to HD of the full copy with VLC and
the ripped-to-hd copies play just fine....

I will include here several screenshots from my latest attempts using
both v8.0.7.3 and v8.1.1.6, as well as my logs....

I have to say, I'm becoming VERY disappointed with DVDFab...

Can someone at DVDFab please fix this?

I'm not sure what you are asking me... What version of DVDFab did
I use to rip it to the HD? What version am I using to compress? I've
used the following versions in my attempts to date: v8.0.7.3,
v8.1.1.2, v8.1.1.5, and v8.1.1.6... Could you please be more specific?

                An apology is in order....

I wish to extend my sincere apologies to the makers of DVDFab...
All of the trouble I was having was due to BitDefender Internet
Security 2012 somehow interfering with DVDFab. I was mistaken
in my belief that DVDFab was at fault, and I apologize for my
comments to the makers of DVDFab...

I have to admit, it was a strange problem... All of the trouble
arised when DVDFab had to compress a movie-only backup of
a Blu-ray. The compression progress always seemed to stall
out at about 15% through the process, and try as I may, I
could not figure out why... After completely removing
BitDefender Internet Security 2012 from my computer, and
running a registry cleaner, I then ran DVDFab again to make
a movie-only backup of Black Swan that required compression,
and DVDFab completed the process with no problems.

What was strange is that if a movie-only backup did not require
any compression, DVDFab would complete the process. So it seems
that somehow BitDefender would allow a movie-only backup to
complete that did not require compression, and yet would prevent
DVDFab from completing the process if it required compression.

At any rate, I am in contact with BitDefender Support so they can
hopefully fix the problem (as I have paid for BitDefender, I would
like to be able to use it). However, I am currently looking for
other Internet Security software that won't interfere with DVDFab.

Again, I am sorry for the comments to the makers of DVDFab (some
were not very kind, as I was getting quite frustrated....). DVDFab is
once again running perfectly, and will continue to be the best
software for backing up my Blu-ray's!

                Keep up the good work!

Glad to see you have gotten it figured out. In post #14 I mentioned to make sure you don't have a bunch of things running in the background and I'm wondering if this issue has caused other Fab users the same heartache?

I did take your advice and made sure there were as few things running in the background as possible... I was unable to terminate any of the BitDefender services running as it would not allow me to...

As a note to anyone else running any of the newer BitDefender 2012 software, I would advise them to remove it completely! Uninstall it, go to the BitDefender website and download thier "Uninstaller Tool", run it, as well as registry scan and clean...

I am now running ESET Smart Security (Trial User), and will see how that Internet Security software pans out....

DVDFab uses Avira in their office and on the test bed machines, so you can be pretty sure that if a conflict with that ever develops it will be spotted and fixed quickly. I will probably change to that when my subscription to Kaspersky runs out.
