    Cuda

A quick question if anyone can help...Will a CUDA enabled video card work better with dvd fab???? Currently my video card is not CUDA enabled and I'm wondering if this makes a big difference since I'm not a video expert..Any help would be appreciated..

It depends on what processes of Fab you are using.

If you are encoding to mobile/compressing disks, yes it will.
If you are not, it won't.

        Hi lebb,

CUDA can speed up BD50 to BD25 from 50% to 100% normally.

We tested on Intel Core i7 with GeForce GTX 275, with CUDA decoder and encoder, the speed can be 100% faster.

        Best Regards,

wow! really? twice as fast? so wut would u recommend for a video card? nvidia or ati?
id prolly think the nvidia that has the most cores on it, is this correct? some input would be appreciated.

i did not know it would speed it up that much, and hey i need a new card for starcraft 2

Wow that is a nice speed up but I want to know what an AMD X4 3.2ghz B.E with an ATI graphics card that has cuda can do.
            Lancool K-56 case.
            OCZ 700watt PSU.
            MSI 990FXA-GD65V2 AM3+.

CUDA belong to Nvidia only. Ati cards won't have it.

I just went out and bought a GeForce 9800 GT card with CUDA...It now seems that it takes twice as long to decrypt a Blu ray...Am I doing something wrong??? I have CUDA enabled and DVDFab is working so slow....Worse than my Radeon card that I had before...I'm running a core 2 Quad at 2.4 ghz....Any help would be greatly appreciated...

                  Hi lebb,

Did you enable both CUDA decoder and encoder?

For GeForce 9800 GT, if your output is BD25, I suggest to try to enable CUDA encoder only to see the result.

The only 2 options I have for encoder are "software only" and "CUDA and Software"..There is no option for only CUDA in the encoder drop down..Do you mean for me to use "Software and CUD"??????

When I enable CUDA in both decoder and encoder compression doesn't work..If I use "software" for the decoder and CUDA for the encoder the compression does work but it takes as long as my old graphics card which wasn't CUDA enabled..Is this video card)GeForce 9800 GT) any good???? I thought that CUDA would make a significant difference..Please advise if you can...

I think he meant not to enable CUDA decode. You can enable CUDA for encode and decode if the original disc encoding method is supported by CUDA, but this often does not provide the best speed. For another decode option, you can get CoreAVC for AVC encoded discs, it is fully supported by DVDFab. The cost is about US$12.

OK- I just don't much about codecs and such..I'm trying to decide if I should stay with the graphics card I bought or not....What is CoreAVC?? Will my card support it??? The more I try to find out the more I get lost...

CoreAVC is software that runs on the CPU, not the GPU. It is a decoder for h264/AVC Blu-rays, it does not decode anything else, but it is very fast for a software decoder. It is most effective if you have a multi-core CPU. It will allow you to use CUDA on your graphics card for encoding, thus sharing the load between the GPU and CPU and in most cases a producing a speed improvement (since the GPU is not having to do both tasks). The speed improvement can be impressive, it is about double on my system compared to running CUDA/CUDA with an AVC original disc. You can google it for more information. Remember that it only decodes AVC, so for discs with other encoding, it does not work.

OK, Thanx...I have a core 2 Quad processor....Is it worthwhile to download this software....I know that the i7 processors are out there and they are more efficient..
