Trouble with converting bluray to dvd

Hi guys wondered if you can help. trying to convert my 300 bluray to a dvd. About 3secs into the conversion process my laptop just dies. I mean completely shuts down.

checked cpu temp np. cool as ice. tried to get a log so i can post it nothing shows in the dvdfab log. i am running windows home and have converted before np, until now. i have ripped it to an iso and tried to convert from that but still same thing. have tried different fill formats and still same. But no log is posted in dvd fab records. wierd. any ideas or a link to other posts. tried looking around forum but may have missed it thanks.

    regards rip.

      Hi,
Please update your graphics driver and try again.
You can also download DVDFab version 9 and have a try.

Okay I finally have been able to produce a log. This is what I have so far. I am trying to convert Hidalgo bluray to dvd 9.

          1. uninstalled all dvdfab software used unistaller software.
          2. installed 9.0.2.2 on my lap top.Tried video converter application and after hitting start send an error report to dvdfab came up. But laptop froze.
          3. unintsalled 9.0.2.2 and re installed 8.2.2.6.
          4. tried to up date my video card it is an nvidia geforce 310m
          5. In common settings for 8.2.2.6 under the avcodec i unselected the lightning-recoding ( was throwing a bone at this point)
          6. conversion hits around 2 % then completely shuts my laptop off.
          7. last time it happened i got a task failed error I believe it read 504. or 404.
hard to tell when screen goes blank 2 secs later.

          here is my log.

            Hi ripvanwinkle1819
Did you also clean the registry after the uninstall?
If not use CCleaner to scrub the registry until nothing is found then reinstall the latest beta found here http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=20639
            Hope this helps

Did you also clean the registry after the uninstall?
If not use CCleaner to scrub the registry until nothing is found then reinstall the latest beta found here http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=20639

I did a complete clean and and using an unistaller program. I tried the newer version 9.0.2.3 but as beforelaptop freezes up. I thought maybe my bluray burner crapped out but it.s funny i can make an iso of bluray np. strange. But I have converted a bluray before i believe it was transformers and np with this mind you i was using a previous version.

                Hi ripvanwinkle1819
Were you able to update your graphics card?
Make sure that you disable all GPU in Fab settings.

If you can remember what version you were using before send me a pm with your e-mail address and I will be happy to send it to you.

I tried to update my video card but i have the latest driver available even wen on nvidia web site. I tried a few setting changes like. disabling the gpu and even disabled the lightning cpu acceleration. no luck still crashes at around 2.02%. Strange. Now not to sound anti fab or anything but I loaded up a program i used a while back to convert video files to mp4 off my video camera and sure enough bd iso conversion to dvd is available. I was using this program years ago before the bluray or the video conversion option was available to the fab line up. I am currently at 17% and still going. There is obviously a glitch or a lag somewhere between the video card and dvdfab. I will try more setting configurations. not sure what else to try but i will not give up on my fab though.

After spending some time on the problem I have come to the conclusion that the limitations of my cpu are the issue that is causing the crashes. I say this because the other converting software I have used has a function that allows you to lower your cpu speed. Thus no overheating. Can we add this to dvd fab? If the cpu speed is lowered I don't crash.

                        regards rip

                          Hi ripvanwinkle1819
You can disable turbo CPU in Fab settings.
Open Fab click the gear cog top right, conversion, convert, uncheck turbo CPU and give it a try.
I had a feeling you were overheating but, you said that it was Cool as Ice

I tried different setting changes and tried a few I had read about from other posts. Don't take me wrong I still am a diehard for my fab but I believe it is not a software issue but a limitation with my laptop. I use my laptop because it is the only bluray reader I have. When I say slowing down my cpu it takes roughly 4 hours to convert a bluray iso to a dvd 9. I am not sure but disabling the the cpu may not be slow enough. I curse my new media player because that is what started this little adventure.

                              Hi ripvanwinkle1819
If using a media player, why not use the ripper function?
This will still heat up your laptop though.
