POLL - Auto Shut down PC when done

Would like to know how many folks use this option when making backups.

I never use this option and have inadvertently selected this by accident when switching windows. The outcome is my puter starts shutting down, then I know I touched this AGAIN by accident !!!!

Post how many times you have used it versus how many backups you've made.

NOTE: If you look at where my cursor (arrow) is, this is long long the field of selection is to Select/Deselect this option. As mentioned I have have inadvertently selected this by accident when switching windows

I've never used the shutdown option.
Oddly enough, never even inadvertantly...which is really good considering I'm an old fart...

    No idea how many bkups....Lots.
Have been doing this since Fab 2.x

I asked Fengtao to make the selection of this field to just the BOX only. He sent a reply and narrowed it down. But as you can see from the image above the cursor/selection goes way beyond the text.

I have done this at least 4-5 times during the last 100 backups. What sucks is I'm usually running another process in the background and it gets hoked up because of the shutdown and I have to start over

      PS: I'm an ole fart too ...... 50's ....

I use it once in a while, e.g. to shut down after overnight jobs. I have modified the poll to allow this as a possible answer.

What I would like is if (I know it's possible) Fengtao/Ting could change this option to be TWO parts.

Make just the CHECK BOX the selection field and just add the text "Auto Shut down PC when done" as a plain text label to the right of the check box selection field. I do this quite often in my Custom DVD Movie Tracker database.

I have used it once or twice when it was late and I still wanted to back up a movie so I just checked the box and went to bed. Hard to say how many back ups I have done as I have had DVDFab since version 3

I use it every time I set up a batch encode to mobile.

I set up the batch before I go to bed, start it and turn the monitor off.

When I get up in the morning the batch is completed and the computer is turned off and not "vampireing" the precious watts !!!

                  Good ol' dvdd.
                  Rock solid software.
I still use it on the rare occasion when nothing else seems to work.

I do use it occationally. Haven't recently because I'm running an experiment. I used to use it quite regularly but then started having problems with my burner reading/burning slow. I would have to wipe the drivers and reinstall and it would be like new. Then a week or two later (after using the option) my burner would slow down again. Since I haven't used it, my burners have been working flawlessly. (Going on 3 weeks now) May not be the problem, but it's all I can think of that may be causing my problems.

Wow that's weird .... my UPPERCASE keeps changing to lowercase .... hummm ... Now it works, but only if I add this second line, if I do just the line above, it actually posts as "r i 4 m ...... :d" !!

Hummmm ... I wonder if that is related to the DMA switch function builtin to DVDFab .... only Fengtao/Ting or one of the mods would know the answer to that !!!

But if it does happen again you need to check your DMA/PIO setting, here's a GREAT post by jmet on DMA .. CLICK HERE !!

Did you try Bill Bell's Excel macro yet, looks @@ like it could be very useful for the folks making portable files ... I'm the ole fart still making portable SL discs.

As for precious watts, while I'm sleeping, HAMMER DOWN ....

My process is usually extract to folder, then edit (PgcEdit) the files, then while I'm sleeping, my puter is compressing in BATCH mode using Shrink. Then I wake up to a few ISO's ready to burn. Then I use the queue feature in Imgburn to burn while I drink coffee and surf the web and flip discs.

This is great especially when you have say a TV series set 5,6,7 discs to backup ....

One of the poll ?????'s should have been .... "Have you inadvertently check this and have your puter shutdown" blah, blah and HOKE up your other processes running in the background .... ROTF, but it not funny when it really happens !!

TIP/FYI: For those that have done this more than once like dumb ole me, I do learn ... now I collapse DVDFab right after I hit the "Start" button. Who says you can't teach an ole dog new tricks !!! But sometimes I still forget.
