"You can set DVDFab and Passkey to ignore your Virtual Drives in Common Settings->DVD/Blu-ray->Drives. I suggest everyone do this. By default, the Virtual Drives are scanned, which is not a good idea IMO and should not be a default."

Hi signals. I agree. I can also confirm this issue has been fixed in 8109. Thanks.

I am still seeing this as of 8.1.1.6.

Out of 10 discs of ripping 2 hung up at scanning source. Cancel fails to cancel. The last movie it does it on is "Year of the Carnivore" and it also did it on "A Kiss of Chaos". I shoujld note that the movies backup just fine using an old copy of dvd shrink. So the computer, the discs and the drives are just fine. I have had this problem all the way back to 8.1.1.2.

      Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with beta 8.1.1.7 on my desktop. The latest official release is working on my laptop, but I can't get anything to work on my desktop. Both machines are running Win 7 laptop is 32bit and desktop is 64bit.

I have installed, uninstalled, ccleaned, run as administrator and even had to buy a new drive after trying to update the firmware in my previous drive killed it. Still have the same problem no matter what I try leading me to believe there is a flaw in the program.

If I start the program before putting in a disc it never recognizes the disk when I put it in. If I put in the disk first then it sees the disk and just continuously scans it and I have to close the program via the task manager. After that it locks up the drive for about 5 minutes before the program actually closes completely.

So what's the problem and is there a fix for it?

Sounds like something interfering with DVDFab's access to the drive. Please install ImgBurn and under its Tools menu, select "Filter driver load order" and click the "Copy to clipboard" button and paste into a post.

I have only tried a few discs so far, but it has happened with all of them. The only way it will even try to read a disc is if I put the disc in first and then start the program. Then it just gets stuck in the endless scan and when I crash the program it takes on the order of 5 minutes to actually completely close.

I'll read through the thread that you suggest.

I have these problems with some blu-rays and have posted about various discs that just scan forever but nobody seems to know what it is. I tried different discs, different drives, different versions of fab. All you get is other people in a different country saying mine copied ok but that doesn't help me. Just have to accept that you can't back them all up i suppose.
