To answer your other question about TDK media, You can set ImgBurn to select the burn speed for each brand. Select AWS, the green man I have circled and set the media and burner. If you do this set DVDFab back to recommended speed and ImgBurn will select the speed for the media. See the screenshot I have mine set to burn the Verbs @ 12x and the Ritek @ 8x.

After doing steps 1-8, do I need to do these additional steps when setting up ImgBurn?
9. Click Tools Menu
10. Select Settings...
11. Click the Build Tab
12. Click Page 2
13. Select Don't Prompt Image Details
14. Select Don't Prompt Volume Label and Auto Answer 'Yes'
15. Click OK
Sorry for asking so many questions. I appreciate all your help.

I wanted to update the progress on my thread. I was able to get everything set up with ImgBurn (using a Verbatim disc @ 12x), made a copy of an earlier movie that had problems with the disc and all went well. Thinking everything was okay, I burned another movie and the ripped copy wouldn't even play and it said it was unsupported. After trying various settings, 12x, 8x, and 4x, and wasting a few discs, I have been able to burn copies using 4X of several movies and, from what I can tell without watching the whole movie, they all seem okay. Possibly it would also be okay using the VSO burning engine at 4X but I'll stick with ImgBurn for now. Thanks to everyone for helping me with this issue.

Hard to say for sure without seeing the logs, but if it were mine I'd spend $15-$20 and put a new burner in it. Sure sounds like it's going south on you.How to post the internal log

I have a HP customized computer and the primary optical drive is also HP. It lists the manufacturer as: Standard CD-Rom drive. You probably already know this but on a Microsoft site, it says: The actual manufacturer information is not included. They do show there is a workaround that may locate the manufacturer. Thanks.

Hi brendajc
The logs look fine. The drive is a re-branded Samsung drive found here with the only firmware I could find for it.
Note if you decide to flash your drive you take full responsibility should it fail and you "brick your drive" (destroy). I have updated many drives before and never had a problem. You download the installer double click it and update your drive, should the drive be different for the installer a message should pop up telling you so.
Out of curiosity have you tried playing these same discs that cause you problems on your DVD player in a different player or even your computers drive???
Do you still get the same freezing and pausing???
