    DVD fab won't analyse the tracks

    When i put a disk in , it starts briefly to analyse the disk, then stops, moves onto the page where you normally select the track you want to copy , but its empty - no moving farward as there is nothing to copy, no option to go back;

    This is now hapenning with every disk...

    This is a licensed copy and since the problem started i've even installed the latest beta version. 6.2.2.0 ;;no good.

    even reading a copy from the hard drive doesn't work.

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled

    using xp sp3

    I suspect something may be interfering with Fab's attempt to read or analyze the DVD...

    Please D/L Imgburn (a good tool to have for many reasons)... go to 'Tools' after it's installed, and click on 'Driver Load Order', and let us know what it finds.

        From what you've posted, I'm not sure that you understood what I wanted.

        DVDFab is the program you said you're having a problem with, and that was what I was trying to address.

        I don't need to see a log of Imgburn ripping an already-ripped disc... what I wanted to see was what drivers are in your system that might be interfering with Fab.

        To give me that info, start up Imgburn, go to 'Tools', and then click on 'Driver Load Order'.

        Please copy the info you find there and post it on your next post.

        DC

        P.S. You're also going to find a big problem trying to write a large ISO file to a FAT32 HD... 4 Gb is the largest you can write with the format. Your HD should be formatted to NTFS to accomodate the larger files.

        I also noticed that of a 500,000 Kb+ RAM, you've only got about 49,000 KB free... way too much running in the background to allow a video ripper to operate properly. You should really kill some of those items to free up more RAM.

            OK... two filters (drivers) that could be problematic... AFS2K and PxHelp20 - please use Imgburn to remove these two, and try a rip again, and let us know if that makes a difference...

            Also, even though you don't normally copy to file, Fab will use your HD as a temporary storage area while it is working, and with ISO creation, the FAT32 could cause a problem...

            DC

            P.S. Although it's not on my list of problematic drivers, the GEARAspiWDM might be a culprit, also... if removal of the other two doesn't help, remove that one, too, and let us know if that changes your situation...

                OK...even though it hasn't seemed to help, those drivers you removed should prevent problems from happening down the road...

                What is the current setting for pathplayer in Fab?

                Try re-setting it to the opposite (please don't use 'enable when necessary') and see if that helps...

                Also, when you installed Fab, did you do it as administrator?

                  In DVDFab Common Settings->Read, change the I/O control from Auto to either SPTI or ASPI, one or the other should work. Turn off the read ahead cache, you don't have enough free memory for it to be effective anyway. Make sure you don't have a process running that has hooks into the optical drives. Get more RAM.

                    @Darthcopier, I've changed the pathplayer settings - still no different
                    @ signals , Neither of the I/O control settings make a difference.

                    I've turned off the read ahead - I agree it wouldn't be using it too much

                    But still no luck - What else?

                        Physical memory: Nothing else than usual... boot it up, there's skype, antivirus (avg) firewall (zone alarm), not much else.

                        all malware identification was done using ad-aware.

                          I've played around with a number of malware programs, and while Ad-Aware isn't the best, not the worst either... Currently use Malwarebytes, Spyware Terminator, and SuperAnti-Spyware (with Sophos Anti-Rootkit in reserve).

                          I recently found that SuperAntiSpyware found an item that MWB, ST and AdAware missed... so I don't think it's wise to use just one program... and I have a separate program for Viruses...

                          The only reason I mention this is that my setup is similar to yours, and I have 0 (zero, nit, zilch, swabo) problems with DVD Fab (and both the VSO engine and Imgburn).

                          Something is causing your problem, and you haven't given us enough info yet to narrow it down, so all I can do is try to guess...

                          You mentioned Skype...does it tie up your HD for it's purposes?? Maybe not releasing it for other programs...

                            You say you changed the temp file location but did you change the destination file location? If it is still J: you're gonna have problems.

                            "I 18:59:49 Destination File: J:\KILL_BILL_VOL1.ISO"

                              I haven't been a member here long, but from what I've read in this thread, he has way too much installed on his pc. I too have Windows XP Sp3, but have the bare minimum installed. Such as Eset Nod32, which includes a built-in firewall, which is hardly noticable foot print. NTFS, is for sure needed, but why would anyone still have FAT32, when NTFS is by far the best. I was having so many errors with DVD Shrink along with the needed software to use it, but now with DVDFab, I was able to remove at least 5 software's where DVDFab is the only one needed to do the same operations. Now I do have another 80GB D which I use, just for doing my movies/videos and music. My main HD is partitioned into two partitions. One is 82.7GB with 61.3GB free space, and the second is 66.2GB with 60.1GB free space. I have found that doing movies and such takes allot of RAM. I also found that having my main HD partitioned, helps if or when I ever need to redo my HD. Makes it much easier to do this way. This is why I think he has was too much installed on his HD.
