7.0.1.2 will not work

Guys I have a long shot experiment for you, at this point long shots are in order. I had to surf over to .Net framework v2.0 and copy gdiplus.dll dated 8.8.2009 1,708 KB and copy it directly into the DVDFab7 folder. If you don’t have .Net framework you need it anyway. Worked for me on W2K. Whether it works for you or not it won’t hurt anything to try it.

Excellent advice.
I had some problems last year while running XP Pro and installing .NET frmework fixed it for me. Sorry, I don't recall what version or other specifics.

This may not be such a long shot, but as 90312 said, it's time for some long shot pinch-hitting anyway...

The official version 6.2.1.8 works just fine. Beta versions 6.2.2.0, 7.0.1.0 and 7.0.1.2 don’t open the source DVD on my system. If I had problems with the official version, I’d make changes to my system. However, when a beta fails to work properly, I think changes need to be made with the beta version. I’ll wait for things to be sorted out some more.

I don't think "long shots" are in order to make beta versions work properly.

Nothing wrong with doing nothing (your choice) and nothing wrong with troubleshooting a particular issue and offering a fix.
As long as it's up to the user, it's all good.

Absolutely mainman, just letting folks know what worked for me. I had some of the same graphic issues as GregiBoy and know that gdiplus.dll is how the OS communicates with the graphics card. It helped me on my system repaint the screens; some things were being left out. Doing nothing is fine it’s only information, take it or leave it. And gdiplus.dll was not written to the DVDFab7 folder during the install.

I suspect that this bug in the beta versions is just a temporary hangover from the Chinese New Year.

Around here you don't even need a prescription, just a recommendation to get something to smoke.

I was on another thread and saw this one. I am having the same problem on a clean install of Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit. 6.2.1.8 works fine and with install of any of the 7 versions will not see a DVD in either of my drives. I can revert back to 6.2.1.8 any time and it works fine.
OS - Windows 7
CPU- X9650 3.0 GHz
RAM- 8GB
Motherboard ASUS P5E3
DVD - HP DVD1270
BLU-Ray -LG BH10LS30

I installed 7.0.1.2 in 2 computers, both P4, with XP Pro SP2. In one, it worked fine, but the other wouldn't run - would close the application when the button for "Start DVDFab" was pressed in the Welcome window. One difference in the 2 computers was that I also had DVDFab 5 2.3.2 installed in the working computer.
So I installed version 5 in the nonworking computer and ran it - which popped up a window asking to change to DMA mode. I selected "yes." (I thought this strange since I thought I already had my drives in DMA mode) Anyway, now 7.0.1.2 works fine in the previously nonworking machine. I uninstalled version 5, and it still works. I tried setting DMA modes alternately to PIO on boot IDE drive and DVD drive and in both cases 7.0.1.2 reverted to the nonworking condition described above. So in my case, it seems it was a DMA issue.

I tried the same thing with version 5.3.2.2 but it still didn't help version 7.0.1.2 to work. Version 6.2.1.8 continues to work perfectly. As Gregiboy pointed out, something is wrong with the SPTI in versions after 6.2.1.8.
